Adam's & PC

Hey folks,

Just received a Kit from Adam's (thx Nick) and got a PC 7336.

Should be our first nice wkend around here and I was going to clean up my truck. Pretty good shape, but some minor scarring from the dealer.

I was wondering since I don't have backing plate for the PC yet, is the included pad w/ the PC ok to use w/ the Revive/SSR combo??

I plan on applying the butterwax by hand.

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest NOT to use that pad because I've heard of some real horror stories with it.

Not having used the PC before would also be a reason not to try it.

I'd suggest ordering your pad kit w/ backing plate and for the week you don't have it read up on some good PC threads/articles.

At the same time you could be the first to put that pad to action with success that I've heard of, and if you did it would be great to report back to us on your triumphs!!!

I have used the pad that came with the PC. It works well as a polishing pad and I am sure it will work with the Revive/SSR. The only negative I have with the pad is that it sits too high off the PC causing some problems with vibration, balance and rolling of the machine. I wouldn't use this pad for applying the Butter Wax though.

If it's the only pad you have and you want to get started, I would use it. I relegated mine to use with paint cleaners, but if that's all I had at the moment I would use it.

NOTE: Some tips with the Revive/Scratch Out..........

The Revive on it's own is a very light paint cleaner.
The Scratch Out on it's own is a bit difficult to work with.

When you get started, put say.......... 6 dime size drops of the Revive on the pad and 3 dime size drops of the Scratch Out. Spread it around on the paint to mix the products (without turning the PC on) Work the area........ if it's not doing what you want (aggressive enough), try using say 4 drops of Revive and 4 drops of Scratch out (which should be more aggressive) ........... and so forth.

Not the best way to polish, but seems to be the best way with these two product............ at least in my opinion.

Thanks folks,

Well, you scared me away from using the PC pad, I went ahead and ordered a pad kit last night.

I guess I'll try the first go around all by hand. Who knows, maybe that's all I really need seeing as the paint is not in all that bad of shape.

You know how it is, New toys and no patience.

For about two years, I used the pad that came with th PC with no problems at all.
When I first got my PC, it was all I had and like the rest of you, I wanted to use that PC now!
I used it with Meguiar's #9 2.0 Swirl Remover and it seemed to work fine. For almost two years after that I continued to use it with #9, but the nuisance of uncrewing the pad, screwing on the Meg's Velcro backing plate and attaching the Meg's Velcro polishing pad finally got me to retire it.
FWIW, I kept it and would probably use it again if I needed a polishing pad. It didn't mar and it didn't come apart. It does show some wear around the edges, but it isn't new anymore.
