Has anyone tried this product? It seems to be somewhat of a minor sensation over at DC where Adam is a sponsor.



I believe this is marketed as a "waterless wash" ala PB's Spray & Wipe. But in addition to the cleaning characteristics of S&W, it adds gloss. What have you experienced? I am most interested in those who have used this product as well as S&W.
 
Very nice product indeed. A little heavy on the perfume additive, but nearly as nice as QS IMO. He sent me out a sample a while back, attractive label and product. Streak free, non oily. A keeper in my book.
 
Well I have been using Adams detail spray for about a year . Very good product leaves a nice shine and smells good. Very easy to use. I use it right after a wash to clean up any water spots. I think it is a little better than S&W but both are great.
 
I'm with Patrick on the smell. It smells like bubble gum, but a little too much. So much that even after washing my hands, the smell still remains.



With that aside, everything else is great. It is more or less a waterless wash on par with S+W, but does add some gloss. Around this time of year, I would be inclined to use it after a QEW session for a little more pop.



During the summer when I'm on my car every 3 days, I use it as an up-keep. Good Stuff.
 
It is good stuff and it really adds to the shine. As Patrick & Sean mentioned the smell is nice, but a bit too strong...still you could do worse smell wise. For some reason it reminds me of the incense aisle at Spencer's; are they even in business anymore?



I have found that the cleaning power is a bit below that of Spray & Wipe, but it is fine for removing dust & very light dirt. I am testing a 1:1 mix of Adam's & Spray & Wipe right now...I think the best ratio will be 1:2 or 1:3 Adam's to S&W...



The best thing about the Adam's to me is the shine that it leaves and that it doesn't leave any polymer or carnauba behind - that way I don't have to worry about any bonding issues if I get a wild hair and decide to throw another coat of LSP on.



It is definitely worth checking out; I bought the carwash too but have not tried it yet.

Interesting comparing Adams QD to CK's QS. In what areas do you think one or the other excels (pun absolutely intended ;) )? Gloss enhancing? Slick finish? I'm assuming that the Adam's QD beats QS in the "cleaning" department handily.

OK? Can you state specifically how Adam's QD is "slightly better than" PB's S&W?

So do you view their claim as a "waterless wash" overstated, and it is more of a regular QD product?

What are you trying to acheive by this? A more powerful cleaner? A cleaner with more gloss? Or just playing chemist :D I maintain several bottles of varying dilutions of S&W. S&W/Distilled Water for glass, S&W/QD for lighter cleaning + gloss.

Yeah, just like PB's S&W. Wipe it down and you can go right to your LSP :up

Hmmm I think the Detail Spray has a definite edge over some of the QD out there as it is built to clean more for shows and such. To me, its perfect for spraying when I'm drying my car after its been detailed. Gives a very very nice boost to the paint! If I were to rank it, probably the best of both cleaning and gloss enhancing.



These are my thoughts so far after 3 weeks or so. More testing to be done :D

I won't say overstated because it does offer some cleaning power....just not as much as S&W IMHO. Think about how many levels of abrasiveness there are for polishes and it makes sense that waterless washes would have different levels of cleaning power. I use it strictly as a QD when used straight.

I'm partly playing chemist & partly trying to see if I can do a 1 step clean & QD rather than using Adam's after S&W - which works great BTW. Adam's also works well if you spray it on after washing & wipe it off as you are drying.

I'd send you a sample, but I'm starting to get a bit low...I think it is worth checking out as a QD...as a waterless wash I'm sold on S&W.

Nice statement, but I don't know what you are comparing it to. S&W or other QDs in general or specific QDs? :nixweiss

I have used S&W, Mothers, UGE, and I believe Final Inspection. However I am very satisfied so far. I'm really scared at what Steve has cooking up in his Lab for a new S&W.

Thanks. So, you think Adam's QD outcleans S&W? In your opinion, is that marginally or significantly? Or is it the addition of gloss that pushes you to one over the other?



FWIW, I have the gloss issue covered by adding QD to my S&W. I would be tempted to try the Adam's QD if it performed better (read safer - more lubricity - more dirt "encapsulating") than S&W. If that is possible???



Comparing the two from a cost standpoint...S&W $30/gal vs AQD $35/gal @15% differential.

I like both products and buy them both by the gallon. When I want to wash, I reach for the S&W. When I need some pop, I go for the Adams. The price is well, a wash as I can get Adams local to me but pay tax and the S&W by net order and have to pay shipping but no tax.



I am however, looking forward to the new Spray and Gloss product that is coming from Steve.
 
No no! :D For cleaning power S&W, for best of gloss enhancing and S&W, Adam's. S&W is beautiful as is. I'm finding more uses out of it everday.
 
For me Adam's does a very nice job of cleaning with the ability to leave a nice glossy finish. I like the smell. As to comparing to QS, Adam's leaves the same finish, but QS has no scent, I like to have a nice scent. S&W is an awesome product, cleans very well, but does not leave the same glossy finish compared to Adam's QD.

Kent, Ive never used it as a cleaner type product, Ive never used S&W either. I used the adams QD, as a QD. In relation to QS, I favored the QS for the following reasons:

Now mind you I have only sampled 4 oz of Adams, and have gone thru literally cases of QS.

I prefer the smell (or lack thereof).

Appears to work better in colder weather for me, although John Styrnol can elaborate on this isuue better than I !

Less streaking, and hazing.

Works excellent on windows, interior and exterior without smelling up the entire car.

Available in concentrated form.



Adams QD is great, but if they were side by side for the same price, i would choose QS.

So am I correct in assuming that Adam's QD does not contain any kind of wax?



I love the smell but my hands still smell like it for hours after using it even after being washed multiple times.



Also can anybody compare this product to chemical guys "spary wax and quick detail"?
 
Between Adams and PB's, I like PB's much better but my Thumbs are way up for Chemical Guys Spray Wax. I detail in the sun and have never seen a product or a price like it. Smells great no streaks and hello $18 a gallon. Don't take my word for it, try it and see for yourselves.
