Ad in a year book?

A young friend of mine contacted me and said she was on the yearbook staff(or whatever) and said that they offered ads. An 1/8th page ad was 90$ and she said that there would be 600+ sold.

I would love some feedback from you guys. While the money is chump change, I don't like wasting any money. At the same time, one job easily pays for the ad and I would actually not have to drive 1+ hour to get to the job. Thing is, I have done 2 details in my town in the near 4 years in business. The locals just aren't my client base(maybe I have my answer already...), but at only 90$ I don't think it could hurt too bad.

What say you?

1 job pays for the ad, make that person a customer for life and it pays for itself several times over. Plus supporting your local schools makes you look good to people in your area. When my kids were in elementary school, they had door prizes at the PTA meetings. Gave a few exterior detail certificates, ended up getting some referrals off them along with some repeat business.

I agree with Scott. It may or may not get you a job directly but it is good recognition, plus it's an advertisement that never gets thrown away.

Speaking of ads that never get thrown away, back in my early days, I put out flyers. Last time I did that was in early 1996, and someone had put it in a drawer and didn't call me and schedule a detail until around 2002!

Scott is very correct here, it's worth the $90. Trust me, there's much much riskier things you could be wasting your $90 on.
