Acrylic Werks and the challenge

Wow, I hope yall can sync up, I would love to see the outcome of this. Great job on bringing that hood half back to life, that was a impressive transformation Anthony!

Anthony, I'm available anytime. I've got a contract to on FT. SAM HOUSTON when I'm ready to. So, I'm hoping to get that chance before I start, but in the event we don't, I will have my father step in and break me so I can meet you and get this demo in the books.

Mark G.

Tomorrow is the day, I'm anticipating the call from Anthony so I can work on my side of the hood. By the way I'm still waiting for my call. Thanks to all.

Mark G.

Well I did call Mark and as it loks we will get together tomorrow and post the results.

I have my eye on another car for the "swirls and scratch" test. It is a green metallic Mustang and is in need of some help. I'll pst some pictures tomorrow.

Thanks all,

Anthony

Hello all,

Yes we did meet up yesterday, Mark and I, and yes he did do one area of the hood and yes I will post pictures later today.

The guy who owns the truck had to take off yesterday before I had a chance to snap a few pictures so I am going there right now, before the rains from hurricane Claudette hit us.

I will say that the area Mark did turned out nice and it did give the paint a nice shine BUT it also took Mark over an hour to do the little area he did. The paint was very smooth but that again was due more to the claying than the Acrylic Werks. I am not sure how the Acrylic Werks alone would of done on that oxidation.

That's all for now,

Anthony

hmmmm one hour for one half of a hood, doesn't sound like a miracle product. It doesn't sound like a bad product if it did remove that oxidation.

OK folks here is a picture of Marks area done by Acrylic Werks.

Let me first say that Mark is a real nice guy who truly believes in his product 100% and he also acknowledges that he is more for the retailer and not the professional detailer so you have to admire him for his honesty and ambition.

The area that Mark did took well over an hour to do but he also did a few extra little areas, like a windshiel wiper arm and some window trim in the back of the truck. The AW did a nice job in putting color back to the wiper arm and also the rubber trim. I was overall impressed with the results myself as it did produce a nice shine and the paint was very smooth.

What I found to be a few sore spots with the product is that it alone does not seem to have that much cleaning ability unless used with a clay bar. It is also very time consuming and for those of you who are professional detailers forget about it. Like I said it took Mark over an hour to do his spot and the guy looked like he ran a 10 mile marathon when done. I would hate to see how draining it would of been had we taken the truck outside in the sun because as it was we were under a parking garage where it is at least 10 degrees cooler than outside.

Also if you look at the picture you will see an area that is circled. This area reveals some linear scratches in the paint which I believe was caused by the AW in the application process. So how it fairs with "removing" scratches and swirls remains to be seen but from what I have seen I am not sold.

Let me remind all that I did NOT polish the area I did I only cleaned it. Perhaps when I get the chance I will polish my side out and post the results. The purpose of this was not to really test anything other than cleaning ability and Mark was nice enough to leave me a bottle of AW and I will try an area with it alone and no clay and see how it cleans.

Also the red car I first picked out for the "swirl removal" test has been replaced by a green Ford Mustang with even worse scratches and swirls. Pictures and results of that test will be posted perhaps later in the week or early next week.

Thanks,

Anthony

Hello All,

First, let me start out by saying, meeting up with Anthony was good. He is a standup person in my book. If you have not met him personally, you should. The truck he made available was one of those vehicles we have good "demo" knowledge of. Now, the truck is black, and it's probably a mid 80's model S-10. The truck had oxidized paint, hail damage and rust in some areas, just like Anthony mentioned.

The truck was definately re-painted from the drivers door around to the passenger side front fender. Yes, it was a bear removing that oxidation by hand on the hood, but it came up pretty nice. I also went back and did a small spot where Anthony had worked and I will admit that smoothing out the paint first helped.

Now, I also demo'd the original paint on the roof of the drivers side and it cleaned up instantly with very little effort and left a very high resolution spot there. I also demo'd the back of the cab around the back window where again the paint came out great, and I did restore the lustre to the back window rubber seal, dry and shiney to the touch. That seal should stay like that for the next 6-8 weeks. I also removed the faded surface from the drivers side wiper arm and left it in a smooth and shiney condition, again this should last 6-8 weeks. Last, I polished on top of a rust spot on the hood and asked Anthony to check it from time to time to see when the hard rust comes back.

O.k., this demo is in the books and I will make myself available again, to hook up with Anthony so we can demo the car with the swirls.

Last, I gave Anthony what was left in my bottle, so he could try it with a buffer. The consumers I demo only get to see and learn the hand application process, because 95% of them do not, like myself have enough experience to work with buffers, but a professional that has buffer skills will get outstanding results, and get those results much faster than I did by hand.

Oh, and newer cars will be much faster than the demo I did yesterday. There will be no criss-cross abrasions left when you use this product on new paint. All is well and again I appreciate the time Anthony took out of his busy day so we could do this demo.

Always Here,

Mark G.

It was funny that Anthony was posting the results when I was in the middle of writing mine.

In response to some of Anthony's statements:

1) The same results can be obtained without the clay bar, just a lot more rubbing is required. I'm still pleased with the clay bar performance in the everyday vehicles we demo, the truck is not the norm. So, I will be happy to do 2 demo spots on the swirl monster. One with clay, one without.

2) As for the linear abrasions, my guess is it was from the clay, because there were no abrasion marks in the other two demo areas I did on the truck, where I also used clay, but with hardly any pressure. Maybe, I can get Anthony to photograph those spots and post them as well.

3) That was a tough surface and it would require more rubbing than I would probably want to do, but I will not hesitate to let the let the customer see what is involved to bring that demo area back, this way they are making a decision based on fact not smoke and mirrors.

4) Newer vehicles are a breeze. Use this polish with a buffer and it is impressive. The key thing to remember is not the effort required on the first go, but how little effort will be required to maintain that finish.

Anthony, it will be a pleasure to meet up with you again. Maybe tomorrow, if it rains and we can go into the parking garage. Just call me if you have the time.

Always Here,

Mark G.

So this product is best with newer, less damaged finish's?

For me most cleaners work good on newer finish's

Where's the side-by-side pics as it stands now? Anthony, please then polish your half and post side-by-side pics. That's the comparison I'd like to see with a product that "is truly a one step process that cleans, seals, shines and protects"....

The AW site states "Apply polish in Sunlight for best results". Wasn't following instructions an issue/question with Brad's order? Are instructions optional for this demo? Whazzupwiddat?

As soon as we dry out here in Texas I'll polish and seal my side and then post those pictures.

Mmmph,

Personally I would NOT want to work out in the Texas sun and humidity even on a new car, especially a black finish. Way too much work.

It might do well if Mark and I get a brand new cars and see how long it takes to finish out a car from the wash to the waxing. I would use a "one step" product and he the AW's. We can see then just what is involved time wise on good paint that needs no claying or buffing.

Thomas,

I would guess that AW would do well for a new car but again I question the amount of work involved.

Anthony

To Mmmph,

I know the demo was done indoors, but I didn't have time to be choosey. I do prefer outdoors, because it's easier to see the work. Understand that I will make an adjustment on my directions. This can be used outside or in, but in the sun makes it a little easier. Also, for my consumers they may not have time in the morning or to little time in the evening, so getting a product that can be used in the sun is just what the doctor ordered for some of these men and women. Just the same I'm outdoors cloudy or sunshine 6 days a week at FT. SAM HOUSTON right now, unless it rains. I work from 9a.m. to 7p.m., so demo's are done when the customer pulls up. Never know what's comming, I only know they're hoping for results, and that we can deliver on the majority of the time. Nice day to all.

I first came across this product in 1998 while I was in San Diego, California. The Gonzales Brothers were. They turned a weather-beaten 1986 Volvo into one that looked like it was still on the showroom floor.

I bought a couple bottles and used it on my 1988 Chevy S-10, and Acrylic-Werks took away all the oxidation off my paint, and left a shine that last for months. I started using it for detailing my customers' vehicles. I never seen more satisfied people after they had seen their vehicles after I detailed it with Acrylic-Werks...truly the best car care product out there today.

So were supposed to take some imaginary guys word for it that Akrylik is the Uber-Polish?

Right i'll order 3 cases worth please.

My competition wont stand a chance!!!

:argue

Wait .. didn't Anthony already put the stoppers on it when he said :

'Not For Professional Use' ?

Something aint right here.

Your sounding more like a Kirby Salesman every day.

A Kirby may very well have enough 'suck' (a bit like Akrylik) to hold a bowling ball .. but that doesnt make it worth paying out 10x what a normal vacuum costs.

*sigh*

You would prolly have more chance if you tried to sell me a vacuum.

You know Smoker, your full of it. How can someone like you be so wrong all the time. Your personal attacks on me are getting old, but your forcing my hand. As I've stated before, post a real response when you have a little more skin between your eyebrows and hairline and what little forehead you own, returns to the upright position. You know Smoker, I do respect Anthony's opinion and I only posted my customers e-mail so we can all see that other opinions do exist. Now smoker, I want you to have a nice night, don't think too much, wouldn't want to tax your circuit (smoker, was this supposed to be plural?). So, hop on in your "HULK" underoos so you can have big boy dreams. LOL!

Nice night to all,

Mark G.
