or maybe some people feel you havn't. just because people dont post exactly what you want to hear like "hey man, you are the best detailer ever" doesn't mean they "didn't read" your post. The wheels are obvioiusly sub par and i think every person who would have got paid for this job, would have not stopped until they were clean. Do not insult people by saying "you didn't read" just because they have a different standard of deatiling. The paint obviously looks good and you did a nice job on that and everyone here has complimented you on the turn around. What else do you want?

Vernon

Where the heck did I ever say "oh I'm the best detailer ever!"? The wheels are subpar due to them being too far gone. " Different standard of detailing" give me a flippin break. :wall

You're just being ignorant.

Here is a list of things tried:

1. Decontamination wash with Hot Rims rim cleaner. No success

2. AIO with terry cloth applicator No success

3. Clay Removed a little tar and stuff

4. Blue Rim's metal polish. Got rid of A LOT of junk

5. SSR3. Didn't go too far with this stuff, was scowering up the rims.

Ie, what is left for me to try

*editted for language* sorry folks.

What did you end up using to get the residue left by the faux wood trim off?

Josh

On certain trim, they had used a solvent based glue, so some residue wouldn't come off, even after countless hours of different products.

For most of it, I used varsol to remove it. Took a LONG time.

I can vouch for those wheels being IMPOSSIBLE to clean. My brother had the same wheels, on his z28 which is what they're from, and we tried everthing and couldn't get them clean. It is impossible! Not shure what it is, but its just not possible to get that crap off!

Thank you. Its aggrivating when people say "you didn't try hard enough", when you've tried everything in the book. :furious:

maybe you should get a bigger book!

I like poking fun at the young guys scuba,,,your so sensitive!! :LOLOL

upon better inspection..it appears the wheels are just bad in the hard to reach areas.

your list of products (you have to admit) are mostly for paint and clear.

like that centre cap and wheels probably needed some steel wool. get a bunch from #0 to #0000, then use a nice metal polish, my favorite being AUTOSOL in steel tube.

if the wheels are clearcoated you may want to break out the #1500 sandpaper with soapy water, and start with that.

its all good. :ca
