A whack of cars (M45, G35x2, Civic Coupe, Audi V8, SL600, C5 Vette) pics galore.

You don't see too many V8s any more, that one looked especially nice.

It *is* nice. That guy keeps his cars in really great shape mechanically. In fact that morning I picked it up from his shop; it was in getting the door handle tightened. :)

I drove the V8 around that day and it's an awesome cruiser. Tons of pull, super refined ride, very tight. Amazing that they've depreciated so much they are worth very little. :(

Picus, All look great!!!

How would you compare the Smooth Cut to FPII?

When I intitially got it I used it on some harder paints and was convinced it finished down as well as FPII. Now that I have used it more extensively I know it does not; on soft paint it can leave some micromarring. That said, it has more bite than FPII; it actually reminds me a lot of the *current* optimum compound (maybe a touch less aggressive); it works for a really long time, doesn't dust, spreads very easily and maintains cutting power forever. It does finish down well on harder than average paints. Like all the hi temp products it seems to leave a finish that defies it's cutting ability.

Another +1 from me. It really is unfortunate that the car didn't do better. The combination of Audi still recovering from bad press and the screwy UFO brakes on the early cars conspired to keep it from selling well. By the way, all the details look amazing as usual

Holy flake shot batman!! That is one sweet pic of the flake on the SL.

What kind of wheels does the DG G35 have? I really like that style.

Awesome work :2thumbs:

picus... what machine did you use for those details and what pads?? i'm thinking of buying the yellow orange and white pads from lake country, what do you think?? i have an orbital and a PC but just curious what you used for all those details...

amazing results btw, i love the shot of the civic's hood idk why

TIA,

ivan

Hi Ivan. I use a Makita 9227C rotary and a PC. I use lake country pads for the most part. I do have some Meguiars and SFX pads, but 90% of the pads I use are Lake Country. Cheers.

Yeah, my dad had one and one of his friends still has hers (not the sort of person who usually keeps cars for long). I've driven ones with over 300K that were still nice and tight. If they had telescopic steering wheels I'd probably own one. Glad to hear that one's being treated right.

Picus, do you know where we can grab a makita 9227 in the GTA? Or any other reputable rotary buffer for that matter

Man, isn't that the truth. I love the big old Audis, I had a 91 200Q with the 20valve turbo, as well as a 94 V8Q. Great cars.

You did the old girl justice!

:2thumbs: awesome work as usual picus. oh im glad you also felt as if you could have finished with hc, i have felt the same exact way a few times.

Noob question :> but I read in a thread that after applying 106ff, it's ready for LSP.

What's the question? Does 106ff leave an LSP ready finish? Yes, 99% of the time it does. It's probably the best finishing polish I've ever used.

The details look great...as always.

Unrelated question though...Anyone know what kind of wheels are those on the DG G35. I like them!

Sorry I posted right before bed but would applying prime strong after 106ff take away some of the "ceramic" finish that 106ff leaves?

Ohhhh, I see what you're saying. No, when I use Prime Strong in those applications (as a base sealant rather than a chemical cleaner), I apply it like a sealant to the entire car with a grey pad (no pressure), let it haze and buff it off. I don't work it like a polish. The only time I use it as a polish is when I need it to remove waterspots/calcium etc - and I usually finish with something else after it, since it does not finish down as nicely as 106ff.

Cheers.
