A swirled to hell 2000 Black Vette convertible

You mean to tell me after that transformation, he had the nerve to say he wasn't happy with the tires? Take his keys away, and make him go sit in a corner! :D

I really really dislike FI2 because of the degree of difficulty it takes to get it right.

I definitely agree with this comment. I only use FI2 if I have a minor scratch that SMR can't touch. FI2 always leaves some degree of hazing on my 'Vette; on the other hand, SMR never gives me any trouble. However, SMR is so mild that I've taken to using it with the yellow cutting pad in order to get it to do anything...and even then it often takes two passes. Live and learn, I guess. Maybe I just need to order new pads (my current ones barely stick to the velcro backing on my PC any more).

Excellent restoration of that black paint. A friend of mine recently purchased a 2000 F150 Lariot with some horrid high speed swirls on the hood. I am inspired by your work to tackle his mess !!:bow

.. and black paint are a no no !!!!

He doesn't deserve that ride. If I were the automotive god I would give him 6 month with a 1974 Ford Pinto or AMC Gremlin.

:nono

Great Job!

I had it easy this w/e. Flew up to Columbus, OH to my brothers and sister-in-laws place on sat nite. Earlier that day they just picked up a slightly used (250 miles) 02 convertible vette 6 sp for a great price.

We started sunday morning w/ dawn, claying and doing 3 coats of Z2. We did a few other mods to the car and I flew back last nite.

Here is a nice pic that I put together.

I have the same problem as Alboston's boss. Major Swirl city :(

anyway I can make it as shiny as that Vette? I am still a newbie in detailing world.

WOW, what a big difference Ali! I love DACP.

Wow, that red paint looks really shiny too. Reminds me of the xXx I saw yesterday... :D

Actually I used FI2 BW, ur 0 for 2 :) . If i had a chance to do it again I would go with wool pad and DACP. best combo for removing heavy swirls imo.:up :up
