A sad few days in Poorboy's world

Last Friday my grandmother passed away. I have not been active on any boards or answered any e-mails or pm's since..so don't be offended if you thought i was ignoring you. It was an expected, but very hard blow to me and my family:( I do feel very lucky to have lived my whole life(46years) to this point with grandparents as I know many people do not get that opportunity. She will be greatly missed by our family, but we know she is no longer in pain and in a better place:)

Sorry for your family's loss Steve. You made a wonderful observation regarding your luck of having your Grandparents alive and healthy for such a nice period. I was also lucky with one set of Grandparents (both lived into their early 90's). As an adult I was much better equipped to remember some of the great family stories they shared over the years.

We have had a rather difficult weekend dealing with an aging relative ourselves. Life has a way of dealing us difficult hands so that we will better appreciate the good times.

Best wishes to you and yours.

all my empathy for you and yours with such a loss, and how fortunate indeed to have had her with you so long. I'm forty-six and have been without my favorite grandmother for quite some time, but the memories I own help me wake every day and fall asleep each night. in fact, I toasted to our happy hours (literally, the woman loved to have happy hour cocktails with me) just last night.

I hope the memories you own serve you as well.

Steve

Your in our thoughts here in CA....the loss of anyone no matter if you can see it coming or not is never a pleasant one.

I lost my Grandfather at 12....grandmother at 44...both parents before 46....you truly are lucky to have had her as long as you did..

God rest her soul!

I'm sorry for your loss Steve. I'm in the exact same boat. My grandmother passed away last Thursday at the age of 88. (I'm 46 also) At her service yesterday, I reminisced about some of the great memories I'll always have of spending time with "gigi".

Keep the memories of your grandmother alive in your heart.

Peace be with you and your family.
