A nice reflection picture

I started a thread here in C 'n B a week or so ago with some pictures of my '96 Black Impala SS. I was detailing it up in preparation for getting it ready to put up for sale (it's sold now).

I was going through the pictures that I took again organizing them into a tar.gz archive and I came across this one that I didn't post before but I really think that the reflection is kind of neat.

This picture was taken after prep. work but BEFORE any any of the Jeff's Workstatt products were applied. (After the Presta Chroma Ultra Cutting Creme, Chroma Swirl Remover and Chroma 1500 Polish).

Anyway, I enjoy sharing these with people that have an appreciation for detailing.

I just got my first delivery of OPT Poli-Seal -- My wifes car is the next "victim" once I get time in the next couple of weeks :).

Note: There is some orange peel in the paint (11 year old original GM paint job) but not nearly as bad as it appears in this picture. I think it is a combination of the angle and my camera.

Presta offers their own pads and recommends what pad to use on the bottle (of their own brand pads) which is really nice. I didn't use Presta pads because I have a number of good pads on hand already. Here is what I used...

- Presta Chroma Ultra Cutting Creme - Makita circular with a wool pad (caused pretty severe hazing)

-Presta Chroma Swirl Remover, Ardex yellow foam (medium cut), Makita circular - cleaned up everything nicely. So much so I thought about stopping here but there was some ever so slight marring that I wanted to try to remove.

- # Presta Chroma 1500 Polish, Ardex blue (soft polish) pad, UDM orbital. Really cleaned things up perfectly. Paint is better than the day it was delivered to me 11 years ago.

The lift is very nice to have. It makes working on cars enjoyable. My garage was something I always wanted to do when I built the house I was going to stay in. We built a few years ago and I was fortunate enough to be able to build and outfit a pretty nice garage (that I spend a lot of time in). If it was up to me I would have installed a shower stall, toilet and cot in the corner and skipped ther rest of the house. Funny thing though... My wife wouldn't go for it :)

Great work, and yes, you're lucky that you have a lift! Probably will save your back when polishing out the lower panels on the car!
