A new body kit I designed...

YNOT

Poorboys Rules!
Well, I'm just about finished with another really exciting project. I've had this in the works for a few months now and can finally release the renderings to the public.

I'm working with ScionPro designing a full bodykit, spoiler, mid-wing and front visor for the '08 Scion xB's. The side skirts, wings and visor are being mocked up now and will be available around the end of this year or early next year. Should have some pics of them this week sometime.

The best part is that this car will most likely be built and be displayed at the 2008 SEMA show so I'll hopefully get to see it in person next October...if not sooner.

The kit is going over well on the scion forums and according to the customer it's going over well at Toyota/Scion dealerships and such as well. He's also running it by the VP of Scion so we'll see how that goes.

Let me know your thoughts although, as I said, the kit is about 99% finished. The customer wanted something that took the scions 'modern' look and gave it a bit of old-school 30's/40's 'gangster' car flavor. I also came up with the xG (xGangster) name which I thought was pretty cool.

Anyway, here are a couple of my renderings for you all to check out...

As usual...the renderings were done in Illy 10. Please, let me know your thoughts if you have a minute.

Thanks! :bigups

Very cool Tony!

I had to google a 08' xB to see what they looked like before. I like the look you gave it. The wing thing below the rear window is pretty cool, really carries the door lines around. The xG name is great too, I like the tommy gun in the logo.

Art imitates life. I definitely see the gangster soul patch aka...the grill? Correct? There will always be a market for this stuff. Not my "bag", but hey, good luck!:10:

You do insane work! I was impressed by your art work before but now seeing you actually desing cars is great!

I like the overall look. I'm not sure about the front grill sweeping all of the way to the ground but I'm sure I'd change my opinion if I saw it in person. Plus that's the look of the older cars... Everything else looks outstanding

While I can appreciate the art, I don't like the design much. The front roof spoiler is just going to cause unnecessary drag and may actually get ripped off at high speeds. The rear spoiler is also a little too big for my tastes. The rear bumper could either use some trimming, vents/mesh, or serious undercarriage designs to make sure that the air stream isn't putting too much stress on it. I do like the wide arches and the tucked wheels though. The front end is definitely unique and it looks pretty aggressive. The side exhausts are a nice touch as well. As you can probably tell by now, I'm a bigger fan of function rather than form. A nice blend is necessary, but IMO, the former should trump the latter in most cases. Again, these are just my opinions on the design and are in no way or form attacking your skill as a designer.

Well that just changed my mind on them that makes them look sick. Would buy that for sure!!! Great job tony

Thanks everyone...I appreciate the comments. I know this may be a little to 'wild' for some of you but the younger crowd that gets into customizing these are really liking it. I knew going into this that there'd be a lot of 'love it' or 'hate it'...that's usually how it is with bodykits.

Personally I've never been a fan of big, bulky body kits...I prefer more simple clean lines but I have to say this is something that I think I could see me driving. I especially love the back end of it. I tried a few different things for the front but this is what the customer really liked so this is the direction we went.

The bottom line is that I gave the customer exactly what he was looking for and he's extremely happy with this so that makes me happy knowing I hit the target.

I'm dying to see the molded, mocked-up parts to see how it all looks. I'll try to keep you all posted as this progresses.

Thanks again for the feedback...I appreciate hearing everyones opinions.

That is one of the most difficult things in design. In my eyes anyway. I do architecture for a living. It's a challenge designing something out side of your normal box. I just did a hotel for a client that I hated the design but it was exactly the look they wanted. Sometimes it's hard to give up some of your vision and remember it's their vision you are after.

I love the whole retro gangster theme anyway.

Cool! I've always wondered what the material they use for the mock ups is. I figured foam but it doesn't really look like foam.

You guys are crackin' me up. Yeah...this thing isn't gonna break any speed records...that's for sure...but it'll look 'pimp' rollin' slow and low which is just the way I like it.

Okay...this should be it...the final renderings as approved by the customer...

Hope you all like 'em...I'm super happy with it all for my first 'bodykit' design.

I'll keep ya posted when these things are available at retail so you can see what it all turns out like. With any luck, she'll be built for the SEMA show in 2008...I can't wait!!!

:rofl:rofl:rofl this is a Scion :D

Looks very interesting Tony

Yes, it is a Scion. A vehicle that already has a horrible design when it comes to wind deflection. You'd be suprised at what the winds at 100 MPH could do to a body panel that is fighting against the air stream.

If the wind is blowing 100mph (probably a huricane or tornado) and I'm driving, , then you can bet it's going to be coming up my butt not my windshield :rofl:lol2::D

Not 100 MPH winds, but the winds while you're driving at 100 MPH. Could be more, could be less.

The new XB has a 158 HP DOHC has a governed speed of 109 MPH. The last model had a top speed of around 103 MPH I believe.
