A Neglected RX-7 Back From The Dead (lots of pics)

My friend has a very nice and quick (~375 rwhp) '93 RX-7 Twin Turbo RX-7. While that's nice and all he has neglected the exterior completely. His car has not been washed for 2 years and it sits outside. After a couple of weeks browsing this forum I went ahead and asked him if I could try and revive his car's appearance. This afternoon we went to work. Being a novice autopian I used what I had on hand. Here's the rundown:

Wash

Clay

Megs Scratch X

Megs Deep Crystal Cleaner

Megs Deep Crystal Polish

Megs NXT

Elbow Grease

It took us about 4 hours to do the exterior. I busted out a Sears orbital that I had in my closet to see if the Cleaner would cut in better. It's not perfect but I'll take it as a learning experience. A PC and some DACP it would've been a different game. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

There was a lot of chipping on the front bumper and I forgot to use some Back to Black on the front lip.

Awesome job! Before and afters are always my favorite :D.

It's soo sad to see a car like that neglected so bad :(

That is very well done. Especially given the low abrasive products used. Must be excellent technique. :)

WOW, great job :D

I hope my Camaro comes out looking that good, and great job with the chrome wheels. When I first saw them I thought they were painted.

Thanks to all that have commented!

The wheels are actually polished aluminum clearcoated. Simple Green and a lot of elbow grease did them right.

That thing cleaned up nice, the deep crystal stuff works quite well and is very inexpensive, its a good place to start and you can't go wrong with NXT. Glad to see the pictures.... Nice job and very big transformation!

Great transformation!! Is that all the brake dust the pads produce in the last two years?? I'm impress . The rims on my old Volvo S70 look like that after half a week!!

Great job! Magnificent car!

Be aware that Simple Green is very dangerous around aluminum! The Air Force forbids its use on airframes!

You have LOTS of other options...

Again, Great Job!
