A great cheap Rotary accessory

Buried in one of the rotary videos here is a simple little $14 addition to a rotary that made my work today in tight spaces a lot more effective. It is the shaft extender accessory that puts the pad a bit farther away from the polisher so you can angle it and see things better when compounding. It really helped me on my radius surfaces I was doing today:

I've got a couple of those as well; they are sold as "double sided pad adapters" for attaching wool pads, but they work great as spindle extensions.
 
i've seen some of the pros using an extender similar and noticed how easier it made polishing tight spots. is that something you made or bought somewhere and can you get them longer than what you have here...
 
Interested as well. Was this something you made or purchased. I know there was a member on another detailing forum that was making them in various lengths and selling them for around $20.00
 
Ha! This is the optimum dbl sided pad adapter - just checked my paperwork - (OPT-ADAPTER)

Got it 20% off on NY eve for $11.20.....
 
Auto Detailing Solutions (ADS) out of Arizona has been selling all types of spacers/adapters for years.
I always use one on my Rotary, and have a few for Random Orbitals, except for the Flex which of course is set up differently, so they cant be used.

You can stack two of them together on the spindle if you need more length....
 
I really like the idea of this extension. I just placed and order here on ACC and unfortunately they don't seem to carry this extension... :(
 
I see it's in the discontinued section, but it still let me add it to my shopping cart so maybe they still have some, NOS?

Strange that they don't have the OPT version; considering AG has sold them for a long time now.
