A few quick Q's before I order

Ok, with the help of everyone here I've decided to go with the Klasse twins as a base for maintaining my daily driver. Since I have to order online anyways I might as well just help support the site and order from Autopia Car Care. A few brief Q's:

- Will they ship to Canada with USPS? (Another thread indicated yes)

- It looks like the complete Klasse kit is gonna be the ticket, and then I also use the Sonus as a quick maintanence regiment year-round hopefully??? The kit includes:

Klasse All-In-One (16.9 oz.)

Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze (16.9 oz.)

Sonus High Gloss Acrylic Spritz (16 oz.)

Concours Buffing Towel

Ultimate Detailing Towels (2)

Handi-Grip foam applicator for Klasse All-In-One

100% cotton terry cloth applicator for Sealant Glaze

- Are the included towels what I'll need? I assume the UDT will be mainly for drying after wash and the CBT for buffing the SG and AIO? Everyone around here says how MF is so much better than cotton, yet there it is to apply SG... I'm just a little confused on that. I don't mind buying extra towels or whatever if ppl recommend that I do.

- And last, I think I should add some sheepskin mits to hand wash in-between coats of SG? (It will get dusty as it cures for 24 hours I'm sure) Is there anything besides shampoo that I could use to wash between coats that won't run down into the sewers - there's a by-law in Calgary about draining soap into the sewer system.

Thanks everyone.

UDT's are great for drying, but if i had the $ i'd get a few more to have around for QDing. They are my fav overall towels. I haven't tried using them to remove wax residue yet and I don't know how well it would do this; i'm afraid of clogging the towels and reducing its absorbance. I know that people've recommended the CBT for qd'ing, but i don't know how well it removes residue.

The autopia site has some blue-pearl (?) microfiber towels.. I really like them for removing wax residue, so i'd get those. you should also definitely have a good wash mitt- you'll hear argument for sheepskin, cotton chenille, and microfiber mitts, and the best choice is really up to you after you personally experience using all three. But sheepskin mitts are nice. :)

I would get a few more MF towels for buffing off the AIO and SG. I routinely go thru about 1/2 dozen MF to do both applications. Using a WW MF I find does the best job of drying the car.

You have a bylaw for draining soap. That has got to be the stupidest bylaw in existence. Considering all the substances that washes down the sewer from road grime when it rains, washing your car would make little difference. Gov'ts have way too much time on thier hands. If you're not allowed to wash your car then why is it OK to wash your dishes. Is not that also going into the sewer system last I heard? Pretty soon the Gov't is only going to allow you to crap between midnite and 6 A.M. I'll get off my soapbox now.

One word of warning about Autopia's CBT and DFTowel: These are addictive, and you might get arrested for lascivious behavior with them. They are SOOOOoooo luxurious! :bigups Oh, and by the way, they're also great for QDing and wax/sealant removal.

What I don't yet see on your list is a GREAT towel for drying your car. I got my big drying waffleweave from Microfiber Tech. Lots of folks swear by the Big Blue Towel from CMA et al. But one of these thirsty puppies would be a good addition.

The UDT could be used for drying but you would find the WW to be much more absorbant. The pakshak WW towel I use easily does 1 car and could probably do 2 as it is still pretty dry after the 1st car. It's easier to spot dry with as well. I used to think the Absorber was great until I got my WW now there's no comparison. It's especially good at absorbing those little nooks and crannies around the car that always seem to leak 10 minutes after you finished(around headlights, under spoiler, around side mirror). The UDT is better suited for QDing.

As to the question of why applicators always seems to be terry and not MF I always wondered that myself. There seems to be some available but not nearly as much as terry. I prefer foam anyways.

I figured that the UDT would be the drying towel... No?

Sorry, but I can't really give an experienced answer, as I haven't bought the UDT. To me -- looking only at the photos -- the UDT looks like a regular waffleweave detailing towel -- and they are pretty nifty. Others I own along those lines work pretty well for drying, but haven't measured up to my MicrofiberTech big, thirsty, drying towel. But I'm no textile expert. I'm sure the UDT vendor would be able to compare them for you.

Sorry for my confusion here guys... So Dan says that I'd want a WW towel for drying, and then Lynn says that the UDT looks like a WW towel.

Oh well, I'll try to get another large MF WW towel for drying in any event anyways.
