A few cars

I started this detail some time ago but due to the owners schedule and mine it's taken us a long time to get back together to finish. It's an 96 blk on blk MB S420 and it's hammered.

It's never been polished or detailed, only taken through the local scratch tub. I took befores of the interior and exterior but lost them some place, most likely when I upgraded my comp. It had a ton of paint chips plus the local sratch tub used wheel acid one too many times on the wheels and bleached them out. I polished them back out as best as possible.

Paint needed some wool padding in a few areas and one area wetsanded. Most of the paint though was treated with an Optimum green pad and Optimum Compound and then Optimum Polish with the green pad again. From there I went Optimum Polish with a blue, blk and white pad.

I laid down one coat of OCW then later I applied some Trade Secret paste wax. It's been a looooooooong time since I used paste wax :grinno:

Here are a few exterior before shots that I took just recently. The original ones are lost.

Hood

This is the driver side rear panel. Some of the marring on the car was pretty deep.

I polished this side of the car while we had some heavy overcast skies, hence the use of the halogens. Here is an AFTER of this panel but with no wax on it as of yet.

Here is the passenger side rear door. This was pretty ugly as the rear panel was a repaint.

I wasn't able to remove all of the marring but what was removed gave the paint a much nicer look. In this sun picture you can see some slight marring....which really upset me but I didn't want to continue polishing.

Now for a few shade reflections shots just to show the clarity of the paint. I always liked the looks of Trade Secret.

Now here are a few Porsches. Up first an 06 Seal Grey 997. Only one picture of this beauty. Polished out with Opt Polish and sealed with OCW

This is an 02 Seal Grey Boxster

Now this next baby is just pure WILDNESS...I will only put up a few teaser pics right now and later dedicate a whole thread to it.

Thanks,

Incredible work on the S420, Anthony! Sadly, I see way to many in that condition. Makes you wonder why people bother to even buy a car like that. :nixweiss

I did not know that Optimum sells pads. Any additional information on them?

They don't know what bad is untill they experience good. (the Autopian way.)

Awesome Work!

I feel you on the leftover swirls. It pisses me off, but sometimes you have to say enough is enough. My hands feel like they can't grip a pen after times like that.

Thanks guys, appreciate the compliments :)

Yes that is a 993 Turbo and it is in concours shape right now. The owner went on vacation and forgot to leave me the keys so I was unable to take it out for some sun shots but perhaps if this weekend is nice we'll do it then.

I think it's a 97 or 98.... Can't remember what year exactly but I know he was offered $90k for it on the spot a few weeks back! That single stage paint is a bear though...a PIA to work with. :furious:

Anthony

Great work all around!

The Benzo cleaned up very well.

Smart move, knowing when to say "good enough" :xyxthumbs

Yep! The owner doesn't sound like he/she cares about a touch of micro-marring.

Wowsers. Good, good stuff man. Normally, I would be salivating about that Porsche, but that Benz just stole my heartbeat for a second. You surely made ol' Deutschland proud. Great work!

I have a few of those. Just won't pop for what the car really needs. As long as it is shiny, they are happy. They are, I'm not. ;)

Impressive Anthony! THis is why I need to get you to do my G35 Sedan locally! I recently told you about my tax I had to pay. Well I have a car show at the end of May that I will need to get my black beauty cleaned up!! Here is a teaser pic of it about 2 months ago. :)

But the paint has gotten a bit beat up since that picture due to road debri, etc. Also my clear bra on the front looks pretty bad where I might have to remove it soon to make the car look better. :(
