Well, I thought I'd let you all in on what I do on a normal workday. Some might find this boring and some might like it.

Well this is me and my day!

6:00AM

Alarm goes off. I wake my wife and then I go get some coffee. I jump in the shower and get ready. I then proceed to get the kids ready for school since she's gone by 7:00. Out the door by 7:30AM.

8:00AM

Just dropped the kids off. On the way back home, I call 4 customers to confirm their appointments today. I also tell them that I will be about an hour behind due the cold weather. It's 25* on the bank's thermometer!. One cancels. She's a real estate agent and had a meeting pop up. It's ok. I do it weekly anyways.

9:00AM

Back at home, the laundry goes in and I sit down at the computer. I pop open a Red Bull and start typing. Who knows what this stuff will do to me long-term! LOL! I quickly PM Meghan and tell her her and her 60*+ weather sucks. Makes me feel a little better!

Here's today's schedule.....

10:00AM

12:00PM

2003 Grand Cherokee

Nothing major here. Dirty outside and a light interior cleaning. Popped a coat of Max Wax on it since it's been 5 weeks. I maintain this bi-weekly but she's a real estate agent. Looks like this in about 5 days!

2005 Jeep Liberty

Next it was off to another real estate agent. This one too is maintained on a bi-weekly basis. Needed a cost of Max Wax too. I love this color. I will be doing a full detail on it in 2 weeks. Her dog's nails has prompted that!

Beautiful work as always Justin. I'm amazed that you do all that in only an hour or two. You must be a man of great efficiency.

Without my Red Bull, I'm powerless!!!!

Thanks for sharing Justin. I don't do this professionally but I wish I could get done half of what you do in that amount of time. If you ever want to share a step by step process for one of the vehicles, I'd be happy to read it. So when it's 25* you still wash by hand? I'm guessing it must have warmed up a bit during the day, but still. That's cold.

J-man, lookin' good !! The Liberty looks like a completely different vehicle after you worked your magic. So much darker... Nice effort :)

man, how do you get it all done is like 2 hour?! my car is way smaller than those trucks and it takes me at least 3hr+ to wash/dry + wax on/off, and thats not including any interior work.

I just have a system. I wash, vac, and do the windows and interior in less than an hour. Waxing is only 20 minutes to put on and take off since Max Wax does not need to haze.

how in the world did you fit all that in one day!?

Time management. I'm usually planned out for up to five days. This includes the weekend too. I just like to know where my time is and is going. In this business, time is money. Five minutes here and ten minutes here add up to an hour quickly. And when I'm aiming for 50.00 and hour, that's expensive minutes!!!

Yeah, I actually did the math (friend was here wondering what you probably made) and I did it; i figured after expenses probably just a tad over $50.00/hr.

You got it. I spend about 5.00 in supplies per detail on the average.

Since I'm mobile, I have really no overhead. I would have the truck payment anyways!!!

nice long day justin, i would love to live in an area like yours, i simply cant charge 100 for a wash/wax in my area. not when hundreds of base operations charge fifty for what the public view as the same thing. im glad you are able to do so and strongly encourage you to continue doing so. busy busy busy.

Now is it more profitable for you do just do wash/waxes than full details?

Im also lucky that I can charge $100 for a wash/wax job and still get good tips. I do only do it like 1 car a week.

it would be waaaaay more profitable for me to do that. i can pretty much bust out a wash wax in an hour and a half to two depending. it's almost like polishing is for the birds, i don't really have a set price list i look over the car first for any job but i have trouble getting 150 for a full exterior on a midsized car even after explainging every dang thing under the sun to em. i think pushing what the public knows or think they know especially in areas where they are less educated is a great thing for business.
