A bad morning for the Max

I woke up this morning knowing that there would be a lot of snow outside. (That's why I put my car cover on last night).

I walked downstairs and looked out the window to the driveway, and noticed that there was a lot of snow on MOST of the car. Strangely, there was an area about the width of two SHOVEL passes that was nearly clear of snow!!! :angry

After telling my parents (who had shoveled the driveway while I was sleeping) that it was obvious someone had thought it would be nice to clear the snow off of my car, my mom admitted to dragging the shovel (plastic with metal edge) across the car cover. I guess she stopped when my dad saw what she was doing and yelled at her to stop.

So I haven't taken the cover off yet, but I don't expect it to be scratch-free. :angry

Hopefully the PC and PI III MG can come through for me...although it may just have to wait for spring anyway. It took a long time to get the AIO+UPPx3+PG.

damn that sucks... if my parents ever touch my car with a shovel, or brush or anything... it won't be a pretty site :scared

any pics?

Yikes! I sure hope you luck out!

Sorta hard to get all :angry at loved ones when they just didn't know any better, huh? Still frustrating...

Guess it's time for that family conference where you explain that people can touch the door handles of your car but nothing else under any circumstances.

i might actually have to do that.. :up

:D

No pics cuz I haven't even taken the cover off yet.

Accumulator - They know that already. Apparently the cover doesn't count as the "car" idk.

My dad actually complains about the door handles slipping out of his hand. Gotta love UPP! :D

If there are scratches, I doubt they would show up in pics anyway due to the difficulty of seeing scratches on white.

LOL regarding your dad and the door handles!

I can *sota* see how the "cover doesn't count" thing would make sense to a layman, for the same reasons I'm trying to be an optimist about your finish.

I'm pretty impressed that you have left the cover on as opposed to *just having to* see if it's damaged *right away*.

NavindraLR- Yeah, I really was serious. My wife has even had "the talk" with her friends and all my in-laws. It was worth it, I truly don't have to worry about our vehicles getting damaged by "normal people doing normal things".

Heh heh, even our *dogs* act correctly in/around the vehicles! The older, more serious, one even gets sorta on-guard when strangers get too close to the cars :D

I just saw it out the window (many times over now). It's not going to change, so I figure I'll see it when I leave later.

In my mind, I can just hear that metal edge scraping the snow off. AAAAAHHHH! :scared

That is a more impressive remark than I think you know; not many people think that way :xyxthumbs

Time to tell your mom if she wants to run a shovel across a car, put HER car in the driveway and let you take the garage :xyxthumbs

I know everyone is trying to funny but, let me tell ya if one of my kids said anything like that to their mom, they would be sleeping on the driveway with their precious car :D

I took the cover off and only found one scratch. :)

Although this was just with the ambient light outside, and it was mostly cloudy. I could take my spotlight out there to look at it later.

I'm glad it wasn't anything major. Just keep in mind that your mom was only trying to do something good, and she probably feels worse than you do.

I can remember when my mother borrowed my car one day and something flew off a truck in front of her and it hit my car head on. The hood was all gouged up, windshield scuffed, etc. She called me crying because she felt so bad. All I could do was tell her it was going to be okay, and it's JUST a car, it can be fixed. There's no good in being hard on her, she tried.

:up :up

Gotta love the pooches! :D

Sorry to here that, glad it's not bad. Speaking of snow we have had about 9 inches over night and still snowing heavy:mad: . I guess I won't be detailing for a while.

The real question is: Why was your mom shoveling while you were sound asleep in your warm bed? :)

I was actually planning on getting up to shovel the snow. My parents just went out and did it anyway. I always shovel the snow, so I don't know why they decided to go out and do it. :nixweiss

I know she was only trying to help. I'm not mad at her, but I told here to leave the snow on the car no matter how much there is. If it's a problem, I'll take care of it.

BTW, I went back out and looked at the spoiler again with my spotlight. I found a whole bunch of fine scratches, but those are no big deal. They will quickly polish out in the spring. That's one advantage of a white car...light scratches only show up under the light of 6,000,000 candlepower! :)

Yeah it sucks but try dealing with co-workers who feel they are doing you a nice favor by cleaning off your ride with a snow brush while they are dragging it across paint.

Acc...WOW! I am impressed!

If I ever suggested my wife to have the "talk" she would look at me like I had a hole in my head. People know there is a radiation field around my cars by now though.

And, the dogs? You need to become part of the next training class at obedience school. Most can't get their kids away from the cars. I had a four legged friend jump up on the driver's door Thursday when I was out on a farm for business. Luckily, no harm; just a happy dog looking for a new friend.

Paul- Glad things worked out and the scratches on the Maxima were a Minima.
