'97 Expedition

That interior would gag a maggot! Her griping may be a sure sign to steer clear of the other car.

OMFG!!!:angry I just heard fromt he customer and she isn't happy with the detail!! She says that the paint looks "ok" and that there are parts of the interior that "look like they haven't been touched"......:angry :angry :angry

She said that she expected way better results for the money she spent. Knee jerk reaction was to tell her how much of a slob she is and that there is little else that can be done with her POS! But I emailed her and asked her what parts she was talking about. I sent her the "Before and Afters" so that she can see how bad it was and how good it is now. So I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens. I will keep you guys posted.:furious: :furious:

Dear lord, how could she possibly be disappointed in that? Wow, some people are just out of their mind. You did an amazing and should be proud of your work. Just tell her you can put lipstick on a pig but its still a pig...see how she reacts to that. And I agree with the above comment...steer clear of another car from her. She isnt worth the agrivation.:bat

Amazing job and nice turn around.

I can't believe she is not happy with your work. She has to be blind in one eye and can't see out of the other if she is not able to see a major difference in it from the time she dropped it off until the time she picked it up. I wonder what her reaction would have been if she would have taken it to a so called detail shop in the area and then had you detail it for her to show her what a real detail is all about?

Again, amazing job and great turn around.

Thanks guys. When I first talked to her she asked what I thought about just replacing the carpet. I told if that's what she wanted to do tell me and I wouldn't spend time time to clean them. She said, "No....just go ahead and clean the whole thing...it should clean up nice". I honestly don't think she saw how dirty it was. People that can let their cars get that dirty just don't see dirt. They are used to living like that and they don't see the whole picture.

I just called her cuz I was tired of waiting for her to email me.

She said that the drivers side carpet didn't look like it had been touched but that the passenger side looked great. I told her that's cuz you don't have any floormats, haven't had floormats for how many years and most of the "stains" she is seeing in the carpet are actually wear spots in the carpet.

She asked about the inside of the console. I told her that I never look inside there cuz people usually don't clean them out and they are full of "stuff" so it's not an area that I usually clean.

She asked about the slide out cupholder in the dash. I didn't even know it had one let alone slide it out to clean the usualy 1/4" peices of plastic that make up a cup holder like that.

She asked about the water spots on the windsheild. I told her that I couldn't run a polisher over the windshield cuz it had so many cracks in it. "When they replace it there won't be any water spots on it" was my response.

She asked about the door jams. I told her that they had been waxed and she said "Yeah... I saw that and they look great but there were just some little nooks and crannys that I seemed to "over look".

When all was said and done and I got to a place where I thought I had made her understand what a slob she was and she made me kind of understand her expectations I agreed to meet with her and see what could be done.

I think that part of it was my fault for not completly getting to know what she expected and part of it was her fault for expecting so much from such a POS. I think we will be able to figure it out amicably but I doubt very seriously that I will consent to do her other car.

Thanks for the ear guys!!

First off, hell of a job. Some people are slobs. Secondly, don't let this lady get under your skin. She obviously doesn't know the terrible condition it was in and the hours you spent. I would just do whatever she wants to get it to her expectations and then never touch one of her vehicles again.

Greg

GreGCavi......Thanks. That's pretty much where I am at with the whole thing. If she is living like this she is oblivious to the "real world" and how it fucntions.....hehehee....I will do what she thinks needs to be done, within reason, and bid her a fond farewell!!:wow:

Like Greg said don't let her get you down. Remind her of how many hours you spent on the mess, be firm but nice.

you think i can stop by sometime, and sample some megs hd? im gonna be going out of town to detail some cars and i would love to try some of that. especially with its dilution capability.

Man, looks great, no doubt about it!!! I am sorry for the customers treatment.

I do have a question, with the PC and KAIO, did you work it into the paint or spread until it was clear and wipe off?

Andrew

That is one amazing turnaround. It always shocks me to see how filthy people let their cars get. Unbelievable!

Thanks!! I work it into the paint but not much. If I am understanding KAIO correctly it's more of a chemical polish than a normal polish. So I am not sure how much you need to work it into the paint. I have heard that some people simply WOWO and it works fine.

Of course! You have my number just call me. I will be around all day Saturday doing a Volvo so come on by!!

Thanks for all the kind words guys! I felt that I had done a great job and I definetly knew that I worked my butt off on this one. Hopefully I can make the customer happy and like will be good again.

I was going to just say she's a b-itch, but as I read further I see there was a lack of comunication between you two. Do what you can to please her, It seems like small stuff. You did a good job. Maybe if she is happy with the follow up visit she ask you to clean the other cars or possibly reccomend you to others.

Just part of customer service...

Looks great! :xyxthumbs

I don't think I would have touched it. It was nasty! That stock color looks weird, but you really cleaned it up well.

When I asked her what color it was and she said "baby blue" I just thought she was being a girl and didn't know what color it was....but turns out......baby blue. It is a weird color but yer right.....it did polish out well! Thanks!

mose,

I realize I'm reviving a bit of an old thread, but I had a couple questions for you. What did you use on the headlights, they look great. What did you use on the rubber and plastic molding on the doors and windows? And finally, what did you use on the black glass between doors? I have a 97 that I've tried to maintain, but these areas are in bad shape and it looks like you were able to revive them nicely!

Thanks in advance,

Russell

ws6-speed - Not a problem on the rivial....it was nice to see that "bucket" again!! LOL!!

Headlights = Meguiars PlastX and some 3" pads from a company called "Buff Shine".They come in a kit with the adapter, a yellow cutting pad, a black finishing pad and a woll pads to remove the product. Very handy to have!!

Plastic molding = CG Trim Restorer

Rubber moldings = Always get DG TMD (Tire and Mat Dressing)

Glass = All glass gets KAIO on a white CCS and then Stoners IG followed by whatever topper I am using. If there are water spots I have a Diamondite Glass Repair Kit to get more aggressive.

Hope this helps!!!

Mike
