95 Polo Green Corvette Convertible

This car just came in last week in need of a good detail. It has almost 59K miles on it and is actually in pretty good shape for the miles. As you can see from the before pics, the paint needed some serious attention. This car was definitely taken care of, but I think the previous owner just washed it because there was no traces of leftover wax in any of the nooks & crannies. The paint was spider webbed and lacked any gloss/ shine. There were a few scratches on the lower rockers and some stone chips on the hood.

Here is my process:

Exterior wash

Cleaned wheels, tires, wheel wells & engine compartment

Complete interior detail

Spot-buffed scratches on lower panels w/ Optimum Compound using foam cutting pad

Buffed complete exterior with Intensive Polish

Buffed complete exterior with Optimum Polish

Hand application of Werkstatt's Prime

Hand application of Natty's Blue

Super Blue Dressing on tires & wheel wells

Polished wheels w/ Wicked Metal Polish & sealed w/ Werkstatt's Prime

Touched up stone chips w/ factory touch-up paint

Very nice Rick. NB leaves a deep finish.

Sounds like you find prime to be a good product. Are you about out? :chuckle:

Do you let prime sit on the wheels for 30 mins before you remove it?

Do you ever use any protectant such as raggtop for the top?

Once again, WOW! I think you may be my new favorite detailer on this site. Hopefully someday I can get to be half as good. So what did you use on the fabric top? It looks brand new.

For the wheels I applied the Prime to each wheel and immediately removed it. I don't think it's necessary to let it sit.

For the top I used Ragg Topp Fabric/ Vinyl Top Cleaner and after it is dry I apply Scotchguard Protectant to it which beads up the water nicely for a good 2 months or so.

Gorgeous work as usual!

That would probably be my 'low-key' Vette color combo. The green and chrome wheels looks very classy.

Hmmm, Rick's typical superb prep + Prime + Natty's Blue =

Incredible finish on that car, Rick, just insanely wet looking! I have a dark blue ML500 I am finishing up tomorrow, just may go with that combo. :)
