"The Corrado is considered by most critics as the best handling front wheel drive car of the late 80's and early 90's, and was listed as one of the "25 Cars You Must Drive Before You Die" by the British magazine, Car. Many owner clubs exist around the world and owners still enjoy its prodigious capabilities."

Sorry for the crummy pictures.. I lost all my pictures and articles, so I had to find new ones quickly :(.

Anyway, I believe it is still the fastest stock VW ever to come out. It was really a fast car at the time. Beating BMW's and even Porsches.

So in a way, this is still VW's best car, even though it is over a decade old.

Here's a Top Gear magazine scan. It places the Corrado against the Probe GT and Celica.

I can't find the motor trend and other magazine articles where they race it against high-end cars.

Also, Top Gear came out w/ a mini-review video of the Corrado.. looking back at how it was a good car then, and is still a good car today. Click here for the video.

Must have been a much more popular car up around you, Quickstrike. They're hard to come by around here and I seldom see one on the road. I know the guy who had this before my brother looked long and hard to even find one. It's an excellent track car for SCCA type racing and there's a big VW tuner up in Westminster, MD (about 45 min from me) whose name escapes me, but they're big-time, kicking these things out at 600+fwhp...

Here's a full shot:

if one was to wetsand so that the clearcoat underneath is in perfect looking shape.. and then had more layers of CC sprayed over it at a shop.. would it still look the same? or would u have to wetsand the new layers of clear coat. ? this way u could keep the shine but have the protection of the thick clearcoat too.

Yeah, I see a couple on the road every week it seems..

There are 7 new ones for sale.. might have to check them out.

Right now I drive a '82 VW Scirocco. I want more power!

very nice man, those improvements totally give me the push to go after it on my truck. Its factory paint, factory OP, and its like 11 years old. There are some panels that if i cant save, will get repainted soon enough anyway in case i blow it. very nice work.

I was thinking of doing this exact thing to my new subaru, since the clear seems really pitiful to begin with. I'll ask the body shop when I stop in later this week. You could probably start with a wetsanding to smooth it, then spray a layer, wetsand that (they usually do between coats anyway) and finish with a topcoat of CC and sand THAT one perfectly smooth.

I saw a friend's corvette that had 7 layers of very lightly metallic speckled clear... deep is not the word. :)
