SamIam- LOL about your Lab mix. I too previously had Rotts, then GSDs, and like you, I didn't want another GSD because it would've been too much like replacing my last one. Too much shedding too 
Both our Beauces came from breeders in CA, but next time I think I'll look to Europe. I had a *very* tough time finding breeders who were producing what I was after and IMO American breeders are sorta the kiss of death for a lot of good breeds.
