1 Clean WS6
Detailing Rottweiler
Hey all!!!
It's hard to believe that I was a junior in highschool when this particular 911 was built in December of 1989...the body lines and simple design are still fresh and appealing to this day. It was also neat seeing the built in "West Germany" build tag on the driver's side door jam. A different time that seems so long ago....
The car is a Carrera 4 (the AWD model) showing 65K original miles on the odo. The current owner has had the car since 2001 and tracks the car usually a half dozen or so times per year and as such it sports a custom roll bar with 5-point harnesses. It has been lightly modded with TechArt 18" rims shod in Pirelli PZero rubber. It also has a cold air kit, larger mass air meter and full aftermarket exhaust and let me tell you...it sounds MEAN!!! You just can't beat the sound of those old school air cooled flat 6 Porsches!!
unk:
Overall the car was in good shape. The interior showed some honest wear but nothing too bad. The exterior, as far as I could tell, wears its original 15 year old paint job. It was moderately swirled and heavily chipped on the lower portion of the hood and over the entire front fascia. No doubt the victim of 65K miles worth of driving and several track days. Below are some pics and a description of the detail.
Enjoy (I certainly did),
Mike
The detail:
Wash with Meg's Gold Class shampoo
Clay with Clay Magic's clay bar and using the Clay Magic lube. The clay session revealed zero contaminants. It was obviously this car had been garaged and cared for (even if not by DC standards) its entire life.
Polish with Poorboy's SSR 2.5 using a Meg's 8006 pad and my PC set at 5-6.
Polish with Poorboy's PwC Blue using a Meg's 8006 pad and my PC set at 5.
Seal with Poorboy's Natty's Blue Paste Wax by hand using a foam pad.
All glass and rubber seals were treated with ClearKote's VM, the rims were sealed with Meg's #20 and the tires were dressed with AA.
You can see a bit of the roll bar peeking through the rear window in this pic...
