And I have a couple of questions if you dont mind? Can the polishes break down completely at a slower speed so long as you put more time into them, thus reducing heat, and on a ss paint reducing the amount of paint removal? If so that would be awesome for someone like me starting out.



And I may have missed it in your original post but did you use all foam or wool or a combo?

I am actually working on an 01 Porsche 911 that I am trying to exceed the most gloss I have ever seen. I just hope that there is a ton of sun this time when I take pics. I am going to try to take pics of the customers face and expression too, if he allows me.

I ended up using a lot of different combos. I mainly used Menzerna SIP and 85U for the most part. I multi staged all my techniques to get the paint this perfect and was a very tough task. They played very well with this paint and did a 100% job. I used a couple bottles of straight 91% IPA for inspection throughout the whole process just to make sure I was not getting any filling at all.



I ended up topping with soveran wax cause I was looking for something easy on easy off and the customer wanted a carnauba on it. It gave it more of a warm look, but it looked nice. I needed something that would tame it down a bit but still keep that wet look. Before the wax it was way too glossy, especially for red.



I really worked extremly hard on this one and it was not an easy task for having a lot of RIDS, swirls, and thin paint in some areas, etc. I was on high alert throughout the whole process which is no fun at all and I could not wait till it was finished. I had to keep an uplift on the buffer the whole time in most areas just to make sure there was no paint hardly coming off. I burnished the paint as high as the paint would allow me to and I was somewhat lucky to have decent workable paint.

Holy Crap Ryan, that came out amazing.



I did an 88 last week that was Cherry Red (more of a cranberry), so I understood 100% your struggles on this one. Knowing how hard of a time I had, the end result that you got is simply amazing.



Couple that with the amazing shots you managed to get in that puddle and you got some amazing stuff.

Thanks Jon! Your absolutly right! People can look at the pics and say WOW great job, but untill you actually work on one and give it a 100% correction job like I did, let alone 95%, it really takes the most talent I have ever put into a car. I could never do them all the time. They are actually on my hated list of correction jobs of time consuming tedious cars. I still have no idea how I got it this perfect. Patience is a severe under statement for what is required. Thanks again!

Hahaha, that was funny!!!!!!! Thanks buddy! The paint was actually VERY soft, but was workable which was somewhat nice. I was not a happy man the whole time doing it, but a few days later it all worked out perfect.

Ryan, this has to be some of the best I've seen from you. Going from the befores to the very first after shot, the paint literally jumped at me. Thanks buddy! I really worked my but off on this one. It was very time consuming though. The customer said he wasn't expecting it to come out like this at all. The car looked unbelievable in the sun, but the pollen was falling so bad that he had to leave right away. I really wanted to take some sun shots but it was out of the question. It was literally blinding without a doubt.

WOW! The pavement looks dry in comparison to the wetness and gloss you achieved on that paint!

Thanks! The weather was awful that day and I had to make sure that I could try to get the best pictures I possibly could with what I had to work with. I was also completly new to the camera and do not know much about it at all, but I did very well. I tried to stage the car on dry tar to show how glossy it was. If there was sun, it would have been a lot brighter. The amazing thing was the wheels and tires were very glossy, but the camera would not pick up on them at all. When I looked at the pics and noticed how glossy the paint was compaered to the wheels and tires I knew I had done good.

Ryan, that IS the wettest red i have seen on here.

I used all foam and all was done with rotary. I washed my pads out 2 times per panel for the 7 stage steps I gave it. I was back and forth to the sink 100's of times. You can work the polishes slow, but they do take longer to break down, but will still break down proper on ss paints. I have broken down polishes finer than they were designed for and I have proof here:chuckle:

Thanks Greg! I stay focused and get into my work very serious. Extremely bad OCD. I just did 26 hours straight on another car. 10 am. to 12 pm the next day. It funny Rick left the shop at 9 last night and came in 7 this morning and I was still working away. He told me I am friggen nuts.

Thanks! This particular paint I worked each session 5 minutes at a slower speed like 800 to 1200 rpm.
