i have some swirls that won't go away with # 80 and a Meg's yellow pad. I've recently ordered am orange power pad from PAC. Do you think it would be better at swirl removal with the #80 or should i step up to #83?

Also what speeds (PC) are recomended?

I use #80 at speed 5 or even 6, but then I always seem to polish at high speeds with the PC.

Sounds like you're right at the "is it strong enough" point with the #80. Almost a flip the coin situation IMO. The orange pad might leave some micromarring....hm..#80 seems to be best matched with regular polishing pads since it is designed to leave a ready-to-wax finish. I just don't like to use #80 with aggressive pads. I'd use a more aggressive product with the orange pad for the tough stuff and then use the #80/Meg's yellow for a follow up. Instead of DACP/#83, I'd get 3M PI-III RC (05933) or the new PI-3000 equivalent.

Yes you should step up to #83. Like Accumulator said, #80 is more meant to leave a ready-to-wax finish. #83 and a cutting pad would be adequate, and then use 80/polishing to get rid of any micromarring left behind.

I typically polish on speed 4-5. It seems like I get better results with less (if any) dusting on moderate speeds as opposed to above 5.
