6 Tire Dressing Showdown

So I already have a favorite (one of these six), but I wanted to see which one actually held up the best. Included is the popular Optimum Opti-Bond, CG Silk Shine, Adam's SVRT, Auto Finesse Satin, and Black Magic spray just for the heck of it. The less popular Smart Wax Smart Dressing was included as well.

Each dressing was applied with a different applicator and only got one coat each.

Here is the bare tire cleaned with CG All Clean + followed by Adam's APC.

Sorry for the shadow.

Here is Opti Bond next to Silk Shine.

Here is my tire:

Any predictions on what lasts longest? Shortest?

I'd put my money on Optimum lasting the longest, and as a side bet I predict Black Magic to finish in the middle of the pack somewhere.

With all of these products I'm rooting for optimum. I've never realy had good success with af satin so I'm interested in how it works for someone else.

After today which included driving on damp roads, there were no visible changes. Also, the car got a flat tire today, but luckily not this one.

Subsribed! I like CG Silk Shine on tires. It has a good balance of sheen without looking oily or reflective and it's not too expensive.

Great test idea! When you update this don't forget to mention the weather/rain and garage/outside parking the tire has been exposed to.

I had an Optimum fan tell me he liked Optimum Tire Shine better than Opti-Bond. I have the latter, but have yet to use it. I trust this guys comments though.

Crappy photo which is why they all appear more dull than they really are, but you can still see each one is still distinctly there. The car is parked outside 24/7.

As a reference, Auto Finesse is the large section up top and black magic is at the 9 o'clock position.

I found Optimum Tire Shine to be very matte and durability was not that great.

Time for some day 8 updates. Car has been parked outside 24/7 and it has rained once.

Overall:

Overall, Adam's SVRT and Black Magic appear to be the darkest. Auto Finesse Satin, Smart Wax Smart Dressing, and Silk Shine still have a natural look. They have no where near their original gloss, but still make the tire look dark. Opti-bond isn't completely gone, but appears the dullest in person.

So far, in terms of looks over time, I'd rank them as:
1. Adam's SVRT
2. Black Magic
3. Tie for Smart Wax Smart Dressing and Auto Finesse Satin.
4. CG Silk Shine
5. Optimum Opti-Bond

Great update! I kind of like the look of the GC Silk Shine, but it is tough to tell on the photos. You seeing it in person is the best judge. The Adams does look good.

Silk Shine and Satin are actually my favorites because they are both liquids and are super easy to apply and last a decent amount of time. Silk Shine is also my favorite interior dressing. That is where it really shines (figuratively, it is actually not shiny at all). I know Satin is called a gel, but I bet you could spray it, it's so thin.

Black Magic always lasts a while, but isn't real easy to apply because it is probably loaded with silicone, but it is actually dry to the touch.

I like SVRT and Smart Dressing for their durability, but they can be harder to apply because they are more like creams.

Opti-bond I just never liked at all.

Anyway, this test is strictly, which will stay on the tire the longest and does not reflect my personal feelings about the products at all. This is straight up durability testing.

Here they are on day 11 (photos are from yesterday).

Here is the tire overall. SVRT and Black Magic are still the darkest, but Satin and Smart Dressing look the most uniform.
