6.5" Green > 6.5" White?

Hey guys, I'm a bit confused regarding the LC CCS colors. I had heard from auto geek that the 6.5 inch green pad was less aggressive then the white, but the 7.5 inch pad was more aggressive. Is this true? Or is the green, regardless of size, stronger?

Furthermore, the CG website has green listed as "Heavy polishing", above the white pad.

I can never keep this straight, either. There are two green foams, one which is more aggressive than the white pad, and one that is less. Between CMA and AG, I can't keep them straight...I think SpoiledMan and I'm sure others have addressed this before--so stay tuned.

In most cases, LC pads go from least to most aggressive in the following order:

blue, black, white, green, orange and yellow.

However, LC makes a green pad only for AutoGeek which throws this out of whack. I believe that green pad is somewhere between the black and white pad but I am not sure. To avoid the confusion, I just buy all my LC pads from Danase rather than Autogeek. Bob keeps things simple at Danase which I like.

those colors are correct.

white is polishing pad, green is light cut / polishing pad

Just to add a comment, the foam used in the green pad (like from danase) is completely different than the white (or other ccs pads). The green has a more open cell structure and compresses easier so do not let that trick you into thinking it is less aggressive.

So then the Green Pad from Chemical Guys is stronger then the usual white pad. Correct!? lol ...

Unless LC makes a special pad for Chemical Guys like it does for Autogeek, yes the green pad would be more agressive than the white pad but less than the orange pad.

The german green foam works great by rotary with a compound such as HTEC. For PC usage I'd stick to a Megs yellow or LC white and LC orange pad and skip the german green.

I spoke to LC directly about this. Even though they are the same color green, the 6.5" green CCS from AG is different from what is available anywhere else. It's my goto finishing pad and I've never understood why many use the white ones.

I would guess most use white as a polishing pad because not everyone buys their pads from AG. AG claims it is a light polishing / finishing pad. Have you used both (AG green and std white)? Any real difference?

Edit: I assume you meant the AG green pad is your go to pad...not the std green.

I spoke to AG about this too... turns out the 7.5" AG Green = 6.5" Standard Green. Its only the 6.5" AG green that is different.

really? the constant pressure ones with the blue inner part? on the back it says classic motoring accessories, right?

to me, it seems lighter than the white ones i have.. the white ones are way more stiff and feels more rough and the green ones are soft as a pillow and soft to the touch. i always use the green ones for polishing needs and never had a problem with swirls.

I don't think your referring to the correct pad. The green I got don't have any such writing on them and don't have any blue inner part

Here is a pic of a PC pad compilation I found here on autopia a while ago, saved it for reference. Not sure who originally posted it for credit due....

anyhow....kinda a summary of diffrent manufacturers/pads

ps sorry pic is so small, it's legible if you download/zoom in. maybe even if you just hold down control and then zoom in with your mouse click wheel...

had problems with the upload requirements.

Depends on what situation I am in. After compounding hard clear/paint, I sometimes likethe polishing power of a white pad to clean up afterwards. If it is soft paint, a finishing pad like a LC black pad may be fine to clean up with. I assume the Auto Geek green pad is comparable to the LC black pad in terms of abrasiveness?

Yes, thought I think the black is softer.

I don't know, I generally buy the 5 inch CCS pads from Danase which follows the standard yellow, orange, green, white, black and blue order of most to least aggressive. I wish Autogeek would not screw things up by screwing around with things.
