5 inch CCS Pads

I am about to order some 5 inch CCS pads from Danase. I decided to use the 5 inch pads due to how many on this site have mentioned that the 5 inch CCS pads provide better cut (due to their smaller size) than the 6.5 inch flat pads when using a UDM. My question is, does it makes sense to use a smaller pad when applying my sealant? A sealant obviously does not need to be broken down, only spread out. Saying that, for my black or blue pad (haven't decided which yet) should I go ahead and get 6.5 inch flat pads to save time? I appreciate any feedback you guys can give, thanks.

Well, I suppose you may be saving a bit of product by using the 5 inches, but the 6.5 pads will probably get you finished earlier.

When you say this, I assume you are referring to the sealant?

If so, that is my thought also. I can understand why people like the 5 inch CCS paids for polishing with a UDM or PC to get more cut. However, I would think for applying a sealant, which doesn't require any cut, it would seem to make more sense to use a larger pad to speed up the process.

I got the 5.5" low profile orange pads in a 24pack for $49.00 from ebay, and they are lake country pads :) sweet price.

I feel the smaller pads apply the sealant in a more even layer. I use my Cyclo often and really like how it applies the sealants.

Interesting. I would not have thought the size of the pad would affect how well the sealant is applied. I will consider that.

In that case you have to be more carefull when you come to those curvy area of the car (eg bumper or side skirt area) where the BP might hit the paint work.

Get a smaller backing plate, I think Danase has the 3.5 inch BP that would be much safer than using a 5 inch BP on a 5 inch pad...
