40th Anniversary ZR-1 Corvette (8 Days, More Than 60 Hours!!) by RickRack...

evo77- Thanks! All the hard-to-reach areas (emblems, door jambs, hood jambs, hatch jambs, headlights, etc.) were polished with Meguiar’s 105, followed by Menzerna 106fa using a microfiber applicator and then sealed with Zaino All In One.

gmblack3a- Thanks a lot Bryan! I don't know how much longer I can detail for. 15 years of detailing is really taking a toll on my body!

PrideSS- Thanks! I was not able to use a paint gauge because it does not work on fiberglass. They do make them for fiberglass, but are pretty expensive. I have a pretty good eye for spotting thin paint and don't really find it necessary.

Amazing work Rick! I really did not expect the afters to look so good considering how bad the paint looked beforehand! Very impressive.

Man that car was trashed but now I'm sure its one of the cleanest cars in the country. Great job guys! Now rest for a few days and have a cold one :D

DJ

Matt@Autogeek- Thanks Matt! I knew the car had a lot of potential, but never thought it would end up so nice!

Looking at your avatar makes me miss my Z! :sadpace:

Got_Leather- Thanks DJ!

Damn! Now that's quite the recovery you pulled off, Rick!

If there was an automotive DSS (Dept. of Social Services), I would have called them! Can you say NEGLECT!!??

Great job!

PhatHoodDetail- Ha,ha... You should see what goes on in the shop every day... :buffing: "A Day in the Life of a Detailer". This is only my full-time/part-time job too. I work a total of 70+ hours almost every week and have no life!

I'll try to post up a couple more details when time allows... Thanks!

tom p.- Thanks a lot Tom!

Nice work...again! That looks like it had to be one of the more difficult cars.

That car is beautiful!! I love reading these write ups, but every one of them makes me add another car to my wish list...

You guys REALLY need to get some sort of lift so you can do this a little longer.

Rick's work is inspirational and certainly motivating. Just wanted to give a second props for all the lurkers who haven't. Great job Rick!! I just re-read the thread for the third time!!!
