He and I are home from college for the holidays and all vehicles were a mess this morning. He had a late night and I was up early to wash, so I figured, I'm in the spirit, I'll wash his for him.
Now later on, I spoke to him about his maintenance program for his car, or lack thereof. Throughout the summer (June 6 - August 20) he washed his car with NXT and 2 chenille mitts every 5-7 days. Once he got to college, it dropped off dramatically. He said he probably washed the car under 5 times from the end of August until now. The last wash being a drive-through back in mid-October. The car lives outdoors in Providence, RI and it did all summer here on Long Island.
With this being said, I washed it today using Poorboy's Super Slick and Suds Wash. This wash cleaned very effectively...see my review in this same forum. The surface lacked any slickness, but cleaned up rather easily. Once dried, I dressed the tires with Wolfgang's Tire Gel, stood back, and evaluated.
While it lacks the initial very wet appearance and glow of UPP, I still saw a lot of it today. It definately looked wet, reflected well, and had a decent glow to it. Also, after my final rinse of the wash procedure, it beaded up pretty well. Nothing crazy, but there was definately still some surface tension there...no pooling.
So hey, I am impressed with the durability. In 10 days, it will be 7 months on a single coat of UPP. It lasted through a pretty hot summer, rather rainy fall, and 2 snow storms thus far.
