Just bought some 4" spot pads (one yellow and one white $5 each) from local professional supply store that mainly selling AutoGlym products . Could not find the 3.75" rotary backing plate so the girl suggested the 3" backing plate $5.00. Can I use this 3" rotary backing plate with 4" pads?

Good Question, I'm looking to purchase some 4" spot pads myself. I know Autopia and CMA have 4" backing plates.

Yeah, anything in the 3"/3.5"/4" range will work fine. Just take the obvious precautions if you use a smaller backing plate so the pad doesn't fold over and scuff the velcro against the paint. FWIW I use the 3.5" (I think) flex pad from CMA on both the PC and the rotary.
