4 hours until I leave to pick up my new car!

Well, leaving to buy my new car in 4 hours! It's a 5 hour drive, so I should be back to get some cruising and pics in! It's a high milage SC300, but VERY clean and suposidly nothing wrong with it. The hood has rockchips and there are some minor scratches on the bumper... but I'm not too worried about those as I plan to get either a tasteful body kit or a 99 bumper conversion. After I sell one of my other cars, the next mod is a twin turbo Supra engine swap... the only thing I'm not sure of is if I should go with a first or second gen Supra engine.

The car is pushing 200k miles, but as long as it feels solid I don't care since it will be swapped in the next month or two. It's a rare 5 speed, which I plan to keep with the swap... since it's not worth it to me to convert it to 6 speed at this time. Every option, and very clean....

Wish me luck!

Edit: The only reason I'm buying one with such high miles is the price... including the car, twin turbo 2nd gen supra swap, and $2000 in labor, I will be paying under $9,000... compared to the $22k or so the supra would cost. (I was looking for MR2s in the 9k price range, but couldn't find anything that really looked nice)

Congrads. Welcome to the SCX family.

Things to look for: cracked air vents and door mouldings.

If I were to swap in a turbo Toyota motor, I'd go 1JZ-GTE, only because it's more original and I've heard it's alot smoother in power delivery- much more Lexus like. It's just a capable of insane power as the 2JZ.

Be sure to post some pics. Happy modding :)

Well, didn't end up going b/c my friend that would have to drive the car home backed out. I'm going to offer to send the guy a deposit in exchange for holding the car until next weekend. I've alreaday priced out many tasteful mods and can't wait to get started. (free mods like clearing/painting the headlights first, planning on HIDs, LED gauge cluster, finishing up my car PC project, and of course the performance mods)

Mongoose - I'm leaning towards the 1JZ just because of the price... and because it's what was put in the Soarers overseas, so there should be absolutely no fitment issues, and the engine should feel completely stock. People on ClubLexus claim 350rwhp with just the swap, and that's pleanty for me... to get started with.

Bottlehead - I assume you used to live in the Cleveland area?

You suck.

:p ;)

That 350 RWHP isn't coming out of a stock 1JZ. There's been some moderate modding done to a 1JZ putting out ~400 crank HP.

He claims he has dyno sheets posted. not sure. I mean there were minor mods, but probably only around $300-400 worth.

And no, my friend sucks, I wish I could have the car! haha

I just found a high milage SC300 in Cleveland for $2900 or best offer! Trying to get ahold of him... if its manual I'll pick it up for sure, but since it's probably not, I may try to talk him down and use the money saved for a 6spd Supra swap.

Careful with the wiring on the 1J. It can be a real nightmare. I have a friend who has one in his Mkiii Supra. I think I would lean more toward the 2J even though it's more money....It's easier to get parts for a motor that was actually offered in the states. Best of luck with whatever you decide. You'll enjoy the car.
