3M Perfect III/3000 Seried Polishes

Are their new abrasives really that much better than their previous abrasives? The rep at the Las Vegas Internation Car Wash Convention (yesterday) tried to convince me that their new product line is much better. And later another detailer told me he loves their new polish and compound, but without knowing his skills, I thought I'd get some Autopian input before I spend my dough trying it out.

*VERY* limited experience, so factor that into your read on this reply.

The RC does *NOT* break down the way the old PI-III RC (059633) did. Doesn't leave nearly as nice a finish. Could be a bit of learning curve involved but I was not favorably impressed. One of the nicest things about the 05933 is its idiot-proof nature.

After going over the PI-III/PI-3K pros/cons with some other Autopians, I just stocked up on the PI-III stuff (and there seems to still be plenty out there).

I simply cannot imagine anything being an improvement on the PI-III MG (05937), so I'll let others do the testing ;) Yeah, I can imagine criticisms being leveled at that decision, but what's to improve about that product? If I needed a replacement I'd probably go with Menzerna or Optimum.

Sorry that this isn't all that helpful...Oh, and pardon my cynicism, but I just *bet* the 3M rep said their new stuff is better  :chuckle:

Thanks Accumulator - I've never tried either. Recollecting on what the rep said, I assume they changed to formula for VOC compliancy reasons. But not sure.

Yeah, voc regulation changes forced the 3000 line in to existence

I far prefer menz, optimum, ppg, dinitrol and sonus.

RAG- IMO it'd be worth the hassle to track down the two PI-III products (05933 and 05937). It'd be pretty hard to exaggerate how much I like those products. Most of the time the two of them will handle anything I need to do (by hand, PC/Cyclo, or rotary). Incredibly user-friendly too.
