Showroom and Intermezzo,

Some polymers only bead water until the solvents have evaporated then they sheet water more than bead.

A lot of waxes contain polymers to some extent, but like Showroom said, they do not play any role in the durability of a product. For example, Meguiar's Gold Class and Pinnacle Paste Glaze are both purported to contain polymers. While they both provide an excellent shine, they are also notoriously lacking in the durability department.

Re cleaner wax, the 3M Cleaner Wax for MOderate Oxidation is amazing stuff....Lets say you park your car at home, and you notice and ugly clear coat scratch in the lighting as you walk by...YOu think, Damn, Id really like to get that out now..its annoying me! The perfect product for that is the 3M Moderate Strength cleaner wax you have in the trunk....Just pour a dam on your applicator, and with moderate pressure, rub back and forth several times over the scratch...Then, lighten up as it dries, and buff it off....Odds are, you will have removed the offender, and, youve left yourself protected as well, until it comes time for an overall wax again...I find it a perfect targeting agent for a quick blemish removal, when you dont have time to do a whole number.

To try something different I just applied 3M's show car wax on my 96 minivan. It was applied on Sunday May 19. I"ll keep ya all posted about durability. It was very easy to apply and buff off.

Price for the can $16.00 CND.

Report June 9:

Washed minivan yesterday, diminished beading, water was sheeting off, and only slight beading when rinsing. Used Z7 to wash so that may have added to the slick feel I had. Mirror like surface was still apparent and could still see the clouds clearly.

Beading was different then first wash a week ago. So I would have to agree that it's durability is not up to par.

Zaino will be applied next.

Sorry to hear about the wax. I agree though, durability of that particular wax is pretty sad. You think it's bad now, wait until the next wash. :(
