3M Buys Meguiar's

I don't think that its a bad move for Meg's.

3M seems to be a pretty successful and responsible company.

Just like everything else in the world today, we should probably see a slight price increase.

Im sure many of the Meg's products we know and love wont be removed. Megs just released the g110, though competition to flex and UDM, it is a machine that could be marketed better (and because its ease of use compared to a rotary could prove beneficial if 3m is willing to market it in mass market stores.) Also my local pbe recommended that I dont use 3m polish with a PC do to the fact that 3m polish was designed for rotary use (though im not too sure on how accurate this is.) If it is true, 3m could make a killing off of keeping a DA branded polish that could essentially become "consumer" level.

Barry is cashing out while the getting is good:bolt. he's not 30 years old :chuckle:. who could blame him :secret.

Didn't see this coming.

The cost of petrol going up, up, up is the major factor in prices increasing. We will see it across the board, not just with Meguiar's.

:nixweiss Oil had dropped to $103 a barrel yesterday, down from the $147 high a couple months ago.

This is unbelievable!

Sorry guys, but this is NOT good news for the consumer. :(

How so? I am not agreeing or disagreeing but wondering why you think it is.

Does the concept of competition in the marketplace have any meaning to you guys?

When you have two of the biggest detailing companies merging, it more than likely does not mean good things in terms of both pricing and development of new products (R&D).

It's not a monopoly, but they will have the majority of the market.

I agree with you differently.

In terms of retail market share, Clorox and Turtle Wax have dominated sales. If the 3M/Meguiar's deal bumps them to the #1 spot and we see fewer "Armor All" quality products at retail, I'm all for it.

On the other hand, if people in the future see the merger as dilluting both lines, that can open things up for a competitor to come out with a superior product line.
