If there were other viable competitors, I wonder why sellers like DD, DI, etc. do not carry them since they would like to have something not sold by everyone else.

There is a viable alternative - and some say a superior alternative - the Makita BO6040.



As to why it isn't pushed hard by sellers may be due the marketing incentives offered by FLEX. That shouldn't detract from the excellence of the BO6040.

I had to do a google to see more about it. Guess who was number 2 after google shopping comparison that carries it? Autogeek followed by Makita then amazon.com.



I have a flex so actually planning to get a non-forced spare DA if cannot handle the new mf pads.

Can you use stand backing plates on the Makita BO6040. From I see on the makita tool site you have to use their backing plates for the BO6040 (Makita USA - Accessory Details - 6" Hook & Loop Rubber Backing Pad). Doesn't look like the BO6040 takes the standard 5/16 backing plate.

I wonder if its made by Milwaukee Tools, I heard they have been developing some new polisher offerings for some time now.
