3D's new D/A?

I've been hearing... rumors I guess would be the correct term, about 3D/HD releasing a new D/A machine. Does anyone have an approximate release schedule for it, or even a confirmation that this is coming? I'm in the market to pick up a machine soon (in the next 2-3 months), and would like to wait for this to come out, but if it's still 6+ months off, I may have to pick up something else instead.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Waiting on a container load to come in from overseas before we announce anything. Still a month or two away I guess.

Doh! I just ordered a G110v2. Maybe I should cancel it!

I'm wondering if it's gonna be forced rotation? I ask because the new HD polishes don't feel very smooth with the 3401, much smoother with a traditional DA.

How about the warranty, and how will back plate availability/pricing be? I know Flex has to have a special BP due to the forced rotation, but will this fit the same BPs as the Flex? I've been wanting to get a 2nd 6" GGDA to prevent down time in case of failure. Just trying to milk you out of any juicy details you can leak to the public here, Ben :)

Will it spin counter clockwise or clockwise? Will 5" and 3" backing plates be available?

I highly doubt it will have the exact same gearing/setup as the 3401.

I was hoping it was one of those shared parts that they had together (cheaper to buy a part already in production than get a new one made). Now when buying BPs you'll have to choose between rotary or DA (flex/GG & PC/HD...does the G110 v2 have a different BP?). Any way, leak your secrets, Ben!

Based on what the video reveals, it appears to have a standard PC spindle assembly mounted to a shaft that spins it like a rotary.... which to me indicates it's pretty similar in concept to a Dynabrade adapter on a traditional rotary. So if I had to guess, any standard 5/16" spindle DA backing plate should work on it. What I'm most interested in knowing is if it is safe to use 3"-4" spot pads with this machine as well (unlike the Dynabrade -- its only shortcoming).

Why wouldn't it be?

In the case of the Dynabrade, it's because the DA head is bigger than the pad/backing plate.

By all appearances that's not an issue with 3D's new machine but it's hard to tell for certain.

Wonder how the "forced rotation polishers like the Flex 3401 don't finish as well as (regular) RO ones..." thing will factor in

I'm in the market for a new polisher, my g110v1 has served me well but it's time to step it up. I've been looking at the g110v2, GG6, and the Flex 3401. I've really been looking at the Flex but it's price is holding me back. If this polisher is promising as David suggests then I'm gonna wait and see what this puppy can do!

Just did my sister in laws '01 Malibu over the weekend and it brought me and the g110v1 to our knees, definitely need to reformulate my plan of attack with a more potent machine/pad combo!
