3D black lambswool pad backing plate

Just a quick question. I'm thinking about ordering the black lambswool pad to try out. According to the site, it is available in 2 sizes, 5.1 and 6.1 inches. Since these are not a standard size, and there are no pictures of the Velcro side to see how big it is, can anyone tell me the proper backing plate size for each? I currently have the Meg's W64 plate (~4.75") and a ~6.5" plate for the rotary and the Meg's W67DA for the PC. I also believe I read that people have had success on a PC with this. Can anyone confirm? I know the general rule is wool is for rotary only.

Hey Matt,

The 5.1" wool should work fine with your 4.75" plate. We use a 4 7/8" backing normally. The 6.1" wool is normally used with a 5 7/8" plate.

The wood pads work great with DA or rotary.

Let me know if I can answer anything else for you.

Thanks Ben for the info. 2 other questions.

1. I'm assuming the 5" flexible foam HD rotary plate will work with these? I was thinking of trying a flexible plate and comparing it to the pretty stiff Meg's plate.

2. Do you have any info on the new yellow wool pads David Fermani mentioned in another thread? Will these replace the black lambswool?

I always use an interface pad with the 3D wool and PFW pads. More comfortable, better control and finish.
