39001 vs 39002

I'm practicing on my 10 year old Windstar. I know it was never detailed or polished and saw lots of automatic car washes. Anyway I started on the hood. It was completely swirled but no holograms. I worked on it for about 2 hours in small sections and am pretty satisfied with the results, I got out about 85% of all swirls. I used a Sonus orange pad and my pc and the 39001 and 39002 evaluating each as I went. Honestly I did not see much of a difference with the results of either one. Is it just me? or is there just not much difference between the medium and fine.

If you did not see a difference with either one of those then you are doing something wrong, most likely not working it in enough. With the FCRC, do not be afraid of dust, cause it dusts alot but it works very very well - especially with a cutting pad. In fact, I am going to try FCRC with a polishing pad this spring to see if I can get it to work without leaving any hazing and/or fogging, which happened last year with the Sonus cutting pad.



But it is without question my go to polish for moderate --> heavy swirls.

Actually, I *would be* a little afraid of the 39002's dust. Carcinogenic- it's fine silica powder, not something you want in your lungs (it gets in there and doesn't come out). I wear a mask when I use this stuff. But then I've switched to the PI-III RC...



Yeah, using 3M's (mild) RCs with a polishing pad (after the cutting) works well. That's my standard step-down procedure.

Maybe something was wrong with the 39001, it was very thin and watery not at all like the 39002, is it suppose to be that way? It actually puddled on the pad, not like toothpaste at all.
