350Z Completed!

Look in the link on my first post. I folded an Absorber drying towel and placed it in the area at the top of the hatch. Then I closed it and washed the car. The Absorber soaked up all the water that ran down there. I just took the towel out when I was done rinsing and there was no water draining out the back of the hatch at all. There is a picture of what I'm talking about in that album I posted. :xyxthumbs
 
That is cool, never thought of that. I usually just dry off the area after washing, but that is a real nice idea. Don't have an absorber, but this might be a reason to get one. Might test some of my own towels in the area and see what happens. Thanks from all the grateful Z owners, heh.
 
I'm going to try this out on my own car today. If it worked so well on the 350 then maybe it will work on my car too. This could be the answer to the never ending drips! :) :spot

By the way, that pic with you behind the wheel is priceless! :lol :rofl You so remind me of one of my friends - must be the glasses and cap, LOL!
 
Nice job Anthony! Red is right up there with black when it comes to looking great after a good detail.



BTW, what were your driving impressions of the Z?

Great job! What did you use on the interior door panels? Everyone on my350z has complained that even 303 splotches on that nubby surface. :nixweiss
 
It was interesting getting to drive it. Its certianly not my GSR. The clutch engages way deeper on the pedal than my car does. The visibility thing was the weirdest part. I couldn't get used to that in the short time I was able to drive it. One other thing I noticed is that the gears are really short. I'm used to my high reving four cylinder I guess. I can let my car wail into the 8000 RPM redline but this car felt like it was time to shift much earlier than that. (not that I redline my car everyday or anything) ;) The pick up in those short gears is really impressive though. You can really feel the power. It pulls pretty hard even in 5th gear. If it had better visibility then I would probably like it more.



Jennifer is my interior specialist. :D She used 4 Star's rubber and vinyl protectant. I asked her how she did the doors and she said that she sprayed the product on a shop towel and then applied it to the door that way. To get in the "holes" she just pressed harder on it and then wiped it down. You could look at the door at different angles and see where she missed so she checked the door often. Jennifer does awesome on interiors so I let her help when she feels up to it. :bow :bow

Looks like you save that car from a premature death. Hopefully he will become a "regular".;)
 
Did you see the resulst of a test on roadsters? They rated the 350Z second! Beats Boxter and Z4 in the convertibles!!

One thing they pointed out in a sidebar, the door handles are easy to open in a car wash! Who uses car washes anyway?



The winner was the Honda S2000. Interesting.



Go and get a copy of Car & Driver, like you didn't know anyway how fun it is!!!

I painted my calipers with high temp paint. I have also added a Kaminari kit. My calipers are the stock Touring model calipers.

I wouldn't put too much stock in that C&D comparison. One of the many inconsistencies was in the 0-60 time for the Z4. I read the glowing C&D review of the Z4 in January and suddenly 6 months later the car is almost a 1/2 second slower 0-60.
