3401 stopped

I guess the brushes are gone or near-gone. I know Flex advertises that the machine will auto-stop when the brushes wear out.

Urgh, couldn't happen at a worse possible time!

Any chance it is the power cord? I have had the wires in my Makita cord break twice right at the point where the cord enters the machine.

I suppose there's that chance. Though, I played with the cord back and forth-like, to see if it would switch on. Doesn't seem to effect it. I just replaced the cord on my Makita too. hurmph!

Try calling them to see if you can get them to find and fix the problem under warranty. ( if your's is not a older model )

Glad I found this..... My Flex 3401 just went out on me last week, at (1.5 years old) finnally figured out that it was the powercord where it goes into the machine from how i roll up the cord. buy my dad has purchased 2 that have just cut out on him. he will be sending them in for warranty work.

I was working with mine yesterday and in the middle of polishing a panel it just stopped completely. I just had the cord replaced on it, so I'm certain it's not that. Hoping it's nothing catastrophic..

That's why it's important to have many machines just in case something like this happens.

Oye! I just ordered one. Tho I won't be using it nearly as much as the pros here. My PC has been going strong since 2005. With a couple years off. *shrug*

Don't regret the purchase, it's a great machine. I've had mine since they were introduced about 3(maybe 4??) years ago and it's had a TON of use, just about everyday. It's been just about bullet proof till today, only replaced a cord in that time.

:up Thanks nick. I can't wait to bust it out. I used to own a Metabo rotary which was awesome for correction, and I'm not sure I wanted to go that route again, hence the Flex. It'll be here next week!
