32 Foot Ford/Gulfstream Motor Home....

No.... not a '32 Ford.....32 Foot!
This was an exterior detail only.

He told me his wife keeps the inside IMMACULATE... so don't touch it!

OK.

The exterior needed polishing... light to moderate oxidation. I did the entire job with a PC!

"After" pics only.

Process:

M205/LC Orange 6.5/PC 7424XP (one step)
IPA Wipedown
Z5P with ZFX by PC with 3M black waffle pad
Removed by PC with terry bonnet
Z8 final wipedown
Polished aluminum wheels with Simichrome polish by hand
Owner did not want tire dressing (likes 'em dry)

Used a step ladder to reach high spots...

Very nice, I've been eyeballing something close to that for weekend getaways.

I'm getting more and more of my clients to shy away from tire dressing. Unless your doing a show, dressing just makes a mess of everything. I dress the wheel wells and leave the tires dry

Well, I am actually looking to max out at $25,000. So I'm not sure if your folks would be intrested :tongue:

Hotel Rooms are nasty, even the nice ones. I am a very perculiar person when it comes to sleeping in a bed that hundreds if not thousands of others have slepted in, not to mention what other kinda fornacation has been going on(Ever seen that 48hrs with the black lite) Not to mention theres hardly enough toilet paper in the world to wrap around the seat of the toilet to drop duece :tongue:

Well.... I never gave hotel rooms that much thought! May I should buy that Motor home!!!:biggrin:

There's a funny story about this motor home.

I had to get up on top to polish the front/top of the bump above the cab. There's a "flimsy" ladder at the back that I had to climb... So I asked the owner...

"Will this thing hold 300 pounds?"

"You don't weight 300 pounds!"

So I hand him my PC and say: "Make that 295. Hand that to me when I get on top!"

"Holy crap you're a big guy!"

"Yup."

You should have seen me flopping around on top of that thing like a beached whale!!!!:clap: (There never seems to be a video camera around when you need one.):)

It just had some light oxidation except for the over-cab area, which was a little heavier.

It took about 5 hours to polish and 3 hours to apply sealant... 1 hour for wheel polishing.

9 hours total. (I've worked on trashed mini-vans that took longer than that!):wink:

Yep, those RV's are deceiving. Once you can get going the time goes fast, I beleive its all the flat panels that makes them easier to do then you may initially think.

Yeah, the flat panels go really fast, but the areas around the door, ladders, bump-outs, fenders, access panels, hook-ups, out-rigger mirrors, (on and on and on) really take some TIME!
 
Nice job Bill! As someone who has done a bunch of these I feel your pain. I'm not real fond of polishing on my belly on the roof either. It came out great though!!
 
Great work on that monster. The results are terrific.

The owner's attitude about tire dressings is a surprise - most RV guys are aware of the sun's evil effects on tires over time (since these things spend their entire lives outdoors) so I'd think that he would want some UV protection on them. Unless he uses tire covers. ;)
