303: To Dilute Or Not To Dilute ??

I see that 303 says that a 30:1 mixture should be good for cleaining stains in carpets and floor mats. I tried it with a little spritz bottle -- maybe 6 ounces -- and it seemed like a lot of work. Then I tried a few spritzes of pure 303 (no water added) and the stuff seemed to fade right away.

I'm going to try again today with a household entrance mat. It has some stains on it. I'll try the 30:1 ratio again, soak it, maybe even scrub it with a brush and see if it lifts. If not, I'll try again when it's dry and use pure 303, or maybe a 10:1 ratio first.

Anybody else have experiences with stronger concentrate doing much better, let me know. 30:1 did seem a bit too dilutive.

When diluting anything. The less you dilute it, the more it costs, the better it works. The more you dilute it, The cost is less, But "you" work harder. So its really up to you how fast you want to use the product and how hard you want to work.

The 30:1 is a guideline. You may have some stains that require a more potent concentration. If you have the 303 Aerospace cleaner, you may notice it says "30:1 and greater" on the back.

As mentioned, you can use it full strength if you wanted to, and you will likely get rid of your stains faster, but you would be wasting product. Some stains don't need "full strength" attacks. As an illustrative example (extreme), you COULD use a cannon to kill a fly, but it wouldn't likely be cost effective, nor the BEST way.

As to the experiences... I try the dilluted version first. Then, if need be, I go to a stronger version. The only exception is when I "have to" get it done on the first shot. Then I usually double it, and give an extra rinse. Some pre-treaters require extra rinsing to get rid of residue. (which is another reason not to go too strong "just because.")

Well, the 30:1 got out all but 2 smaller spots that were alot darker. So I hit them each with 2 sprays of 303 undiluted and they lifted out with a few brush rubs, some hot water, and drying.

Now....back to that fly....are you in the market for a canon, Big Leegr?? :lol :lol
