Hola. Interesting week so far; a couple of straightforward details then a nice long one on a G35. Here they come.

Chrysler 300C SRT8; this care has under 1000km, so it only had light scratches from dealer prep and a mishap with a wifes purse (:D), really cool paint color and very easy to work on. Side note: the car sounds incredible.

Process:

ONR

Clay clay clay

Menzerna IP + orange on some tough spots

Menzerna FPII + white

Zaino Z2pro buffed off with AJ Trigger (that works really well, btw).

Purse scratches, only one was really deep. I wetsanded then hit with IP.

1993 Mazda RX-7. The car had been repainted a year ago so it was in decent shape. The actual repaint itself is pretty bad; a ton of overspray (like, more than I've ever seen), wheel wells, inside some of the glass, all over the front lip and trim.

ONR

Clay

Menz IP + orange on hood only

Menz FPII + white

Werkstatt Prime Strong

Werkstatt Acrylic Jett

Red G35 coupe, this car was on Sports Car Revolution awhile ago (some of you Canucks may have seen the show on Speed), as you can see it's got some mods, interior is mostly bolt ons, borla exhaust, rays wheels, etc... It was in pretty rough shape. Interestingly we decided (the owner and I) that he would film me working and put together a little video, so it ended up taking something like 10 or 11 hours. :)

Process:

ONR

Clay, a lot of it... rear half was miserable

Menzerna Powergloss/yellow @ 1500

Menzerna IP+RMG/white @1300

Menzerna 106FF via PC/white

Souveran spit shined with OCW/CJ mix (I tried this based this post http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=75999 and was super impressed by the results, nice find Zane!)

Anyway you can post the vid? Nice job...I love the SRT8  :goodjob

The vid is being worked on right now, Chris (the G35/Cuda owner) is off to the Mopar Nationals, so he'll be getting the finished version of the vid to me when he returns (early next week). I will post it when I get it. We watched it un-editted last night and it came out pretty well.

Thanks.

:) I'm pretty rarely impressed by LSPs these days, you know, the whole prep/process > products/lsp thing, but that spit shine idea is something else man, worked like a charm and looked killer!

wow nice job on all 3! btw do you know if the rx7 owner is called 7_Rocket on rx7club? that street and FD looks familiar (he showed me pics and his fd got repainted also).

looks great! What did you use on the tires on the 300C? Also did it have ceramiclear on it? I only ask for Mercedes and Chrysler are the same, thought maybe it might have it

That's him! Very nice guy; I think he has an Autopia user name also, I just can't remember what it is.

The tires on the 300C got Meguairs Insane Shine (the pump bottle kind), it's my favorite for the "blingy look" which I know that owner likes (same owner as the Carribean Blue G35 I did awhile ago). And no, definitely not ceramiclear, it was on the high side of average for hardness, but not nearly as hard as ceramiclear.

Wow, amazing turnaround on the G35. I bet the owner was thrilled. The SRT8 is just awesome, I love those cars. Too bad they get such poor MPG.

Excellent on all three but that red G35...

BTW, the OCW/CJ was first mentioned here by o4Cobra, I guess a lot of us have picked up on his excellent idea!

You truly do some gorgeous work. Keep it up, I always enjoy your posts.

No luck on the G35 tails eh? It's really a paint to get the swirls out of them.

The G35 owner is so easy to please he was out of his mind. When I was buffing off the Souveran I thought he was going to lose it. :)

And ya the SRT is a sweet car; interior is a lot nicer than the base version. The guy who owns it owns that FI G35 coupe I've done a few times, it's pushing ~440hp, somehow I think his MPG concerns are the last thing on his mind. When I said "why did you get the 300c?" he said "I needed a family car" haha, nice grocery getter. :D

You've gotten pretty good with G35's...how many different G35's do you think you've done? 45ish

In Toronto? Not quite 45, but it seems like it! Maybe 20 or so this summer.

Yep, I gave him props when I first used it. The spit shine w/souveran in particular was from ZaneO's thread which is why I mentioned it. Regardless, they both rock because that car looks killer right now.

Thanks Sean, likewise. Your last post (the maximas and crazy impala etc...) was intense!

That first "after" of the rear was before I polished the plastic. The owner of the car took both those pics, he was just sitting there while I polished, so he snapped them right after the 106FF on the paint. I got the tails with some PlasticX before we put the car out on the road, although there were definitely still some marks in them they looked a lot better; you're right, the tails in particular are tough on G's.

Thanks guys. I've got a sprint blue S4 and an imola red M3 tomorrow/friday so I'm psyched! If only I could get the two owners to race for me... :spot

They all look great...The G35 looks like it has some hazing on the bumper. The light looks blurry....

You mean this pic, right?

f.jpg

It did have haze, that pic was pre-106ff on the PC. The owner was sitting watching me and snapped the pic as soon as I switched to the PC. I cleaned up the light haze from IP with 106ff on the PC and then polished the rear tail lights, as seen in the later pics of the rear.

Cheers guys.
