3 day detail.

Day one is DONE!!

What I accomplished:

1. Wash

2. Claybar'd

3. ScratchX'd the hood, trunklid, and roof (see pics!)

4. Applied Back to Black (reapply tomorrow again)

5. Cleaned out drains (leaves, etc)

6. Installed new CF wiper blades

7. Silicon PIAA windshield treatment applied

You can clearly see the line on the hood where I have already done a pass with ScratchX and where I have not! AWESOME! I applied once more after this.

RESULT:

Here's the question: So I have successfully removed the watersport that I believe were caused by the Klasse kit. Should I tempt fate and attempt to apply that again?

Accumulator got me hook to KSG. :) KSG is very finicky to use the first time. After doing some research you will learn to love using KSG. It gets addicting too because you keep wanting to add layers everytime. The secret is to use it on a foam applicator using a couple of drops and that's good for half a hood. Then it is recommend that you let it dry for an hour is what I do. Then use some regular QD for easy removal of KSG. Something to share about.

Good on you for doing that! It's something a lot of people neglect.

Sounds like you made a lot of progress :xyxthumbs

Yeah, nice. Glad that worked out so well for you.

Guess it's no surprise that I'd say "yeah".

I washed the KSGed minivan yesterday and just like *every* time I do it, I thought to myself how perfect KSG is on that vehicle. With enough layers on there it's just like wrapping the vehicle in a protective sheath of plastic.

If you don't mind the look (and there are cars where I just can't *stand* the Klasse twins), then I'd go for it.

Get as many layers of KSG on it as you can, use some good QD after every wash while you dry (I suggest KF425 for use on Klasse), and I bet things'll turn out swell. I don't know what was up with those water spots, but I'd hope for the best and not let them dissuade me from layering on the KSG.

Day 2 is DONE!

Accomplished:

1. KAIO'd the entire car with a brand new foam pad

2. One coat KSG

3. Drove to grandmas house, car sat in sun for 1.5 hrs, mowed her 2" of leaves

4. Drove home, went to bank

5. One more coat KSG on top of the first one.

I learned something too. DO NOT apply KSG to a warm hood after a drive. It dried almost immediately and was nearly impossible to get off. I misted with quick detailer and then it released.

Car looks genuinely amazing. For a 10 year old car, it has it's fair share of dings and scratches, but it has really nice paintwork in between!

Tomorrow: 1 more coat KSG in the morning and wax in the afternoon. I think I might polish the tailpipe too. And then, PICS!

lyonsroar- Glad it's going well, you had me nervous there with the KSG on a warm hood!

Any way I can talk you into skipping the wax topper and just adding more KSG as time/etc. permits?

It's going to be getting cold outside so I can't see myself being able to put more layers on top over the winter. Nebraska winters are nasty.

A bird pooped on my car overnight. I nearly screamed! One quick swipe with a sponge and it was gone! I noticed the water sheeting off too. Really nice.

I just got back in from attempting to put another coat on. It's sort of misting outside. I;m under a tree but some water is still getting on the body. Can I safely apply even when it's damp?

Anyone know of a good way to remove carbon deposits from exhaust tips?

I'm pretty sure mine has never been cleaned before. I tried today with steel wool, SOS pads, wheel cleaner, and chrome polish. I made some headway, but it's not good enough yet...
