^^^ 1-2 mils max IMO. I've heard a lot of new cars have 'thin' paint now as a cost savings method for the manufacturers. I know Subaru has been doing this for years.

Beautiful work
^^^Yep, max was in the low 3's
Wow, I have never seen a new vehicle with 58. 42 microns of total paint thickness... You did incredible, beautiful, Detailing on that truck, Scott !!! Thanks for all that work, and then, taking awesome pics and posting them !!!

Love how this truck BARELY fits inside your work area where you took the pics.
Not a fan of the color, but it is a great color for adding a few to decals to do Real Tree camouflage treatment for hunting, though.
But you did a fantastic job on it.
I assume the yellow tape are spots with the paper-thin Total Paint Thickness you measured.
And keep us informed on your new Endless Shine tire gel that you are using. Always looks for something better in detailing products.

Great work! Beautiful color. And wow, 2.3 mils doesn’t feel like Ford’s giving you a lot to work with. That’s definitely got to be maintained.

Thanks everyone for the comments!

Lonnie: Pics made it look tighter than it was. I had some room around it. Color is awesome in person, IMO, and it's a special color, SVT Performance vehicles only can be had in this shade.

Yellow tape were for the heavy defect/factory sanding spot areas that I did not want to 'miss' as they could be difficult to see with this paint. Tire dressing/coating is holding up darn well and I am liking it! (My vice, I have many different tire dressings that I like, lol)

Thanks again!

He is well aware! No bird droppings allowed to sit/dwell/etc/etc...
NEVER thought about bird droppings etching thin paint thicknesses on newer vehicles and being unable to fully remove and correct that problem without cause paint burn-through trying to do so.
Also gives good credence to the need to own a Paint Thickness Gage (PTG) by even hobbyist detailers these days who do such correction work on others vehicles.
It's the antithis of "What you do not know cannot hurt you".
Related to this is that Poorboy's World sells a detailing product called "Birdsh*t Remover". Never tried it so cannot make any comment on how good it is, but it is something to try for this specific problem when it may occur.
