2021 WOWA Sealants?

Lonnie--I guess I`m still bitter over the fact that the installer base got Opti-Coat 2.0 removed from the retail market. Just to be clear, the Opti-Coat branded products can be purchased by anyone, at the Opti-Coat website. But they are only sold that way or through a certified installer, they are not sold through any other distribution channel. And yes, (according to them) Hyper-Seal is their best sealant, as their forum guy described it the other day "could be referred to as a spray-on ceramic coating".

I have many Optimum products but have been disappointed recently by their decision to discontinue the lotion polishes (including Poli-Seal), leaving only the spray polishes (and GPS). Although I like the idea of the spray polishes, I find the user experience to be less satisfying to me than the lotion versions.

Anybody know whether their currently-available Coating as durable as their available-to-consumers stuff used to be?

Oh, and Hey, Setec, seems like I hadn`t seen you here for a while (well, I`ve been offline a lot..) and I just wanted to say "Hi!".

Hi Accumulator, no, the Gloss-Coat is an SiO2 coating, while the old Opti-Coat 2.0 was an SiC coating. I think they claim 2 years for Gloss-Coat, while OC 2.0 was "permanent". I`ve noticed CarPro has a consumer/retail SiC coating.

Gloss Coat is weak from my experience. It’s an SiO2/SiC hybrid. It’s supposed to be a 3 year rated coating. Real world is 1 year at best.

I stopped using it long ago as there are better performing coatings.

If you are truly looking for a "sealant" = Jescar Power Lock Plus Polymer Sealant.

It`s one of the the easiest products to use - removal is a joy. Takes no effort whatsoever. It`s durable and looks great.

Was too hard to find the one. Have Griots 3n1 spray coating coming, a small can of PnS and…. For fun some NuFinish spray ceramic. Also might get the Adams spray too.

Thanks for the confirmations about the longevity of the current Optimum coating...even if it`s not what I wanted to hear.

I can’t believe this is still highly regarded. It is easy to use, but durability is way below so many other easy to use sealants.

Anytime I hear of it, it’s in conjunction with Collinite 845.

Which nullifies any claims to durability. 845 is just awesome on its own. If I could find a WOWA version I`d be all set.

I just applied some OG Optiseal to my ML late last week. Man is is nice and glossy and wet. Just looks so good for so little effort. Definitely a level of wetness that I don`t get with all the spray sealants I`ve been using lately.

That`s what I liked most about OS. Really nice glossy wet look.

If you can get past the fact that OS isn`t the most hydrophobic or longest lasting, it`s still a nice sealant. Hyper-Seal is definitely more hydrophobic, lasts longer and also produces an incredible glossy wet look. It won`t produce the best beads and I highly doubt it will last a year IMO.

I do my best to keep sounding the horn RE: Mckees Hydro Blue Pro in these small circles. Since I discovered it, I haven`t used any of my former WOWA arsenal (Zaino Z-CS and Optiseal old formula).

Even less work than WOWA, "spray on, rinse off to apply" saves me so much time. Older, less time, more toys, I use it on all my friend`s cars. They can`t tell the difference and between biweekly Shell touchless car washes and Toronto winter, I typically only hand wash my fleet twice a year.

Obviously not for the crowd that chases 99% perfection year round, but even through winter, I`m seeing easily 6+ months, and after a full year, while the beading is long gone, the self-cleaning along with the tunnel touchless wash chemicals, I`m seeing 90% clean with remarkable dirt-release even on the lowest and high-traffic areas behind the wheels. Easier to use than most boosters required for true ceramics.

Not expensive either, and I`m on my second gallon of the pro version (twice a year, multiplied by 9-12 vehicles, +all my lawn/snow equipment + 600sf of floor-to-ceiling and wrap around glass railings at my condo).
The most abused vehicle being my 03 4Runner with 270,000miles, parked year round outside, daily driven, looks damn good after a heavy spring rain coming out of winter.

Life-saver in my fleet.
Second place goes to ONR/N914.
