2017 Tesla Model S 100D Red - A Miracle Detailing - CQuartz Finest Reserve​

This was one of the more challenging vehicles I have done in relation to the paint thickness.
Measurements were all over the board! It was obvious almost the entire car had been repainted.
Inside the door jambs were thin. Behind the front license plate was much thinner than the front bumper.
Some of the paint (on metal) was exceptionally thick as were many of the areas that are made of plastic.
In this case, the two PTG`s were worth their weight in gold! Without them, I would have been polishing blind.
IMHO the paint job (although thick) was done exceptionally well and the finished detail turned out awesome!

Rupes 21 with a RUPES 5" Backing Plate and IBrid Nano long neck.

Correction:
1) Lake Country HDO Blue Cutting Pad - 5 1/2" / Rupes DA Coarse (Blue) Cutting Compound

Polishing:
2) Rupes DA Yellow Fine Finishing Foam Pad 5" / Rupes DA Fine High-Performance Yellow Compound
3) CARPRO Gloss Pad 5" / Rupes UNO Pure Universal Ultrafine Finishing Polish

Last Step Products:
Cquartz Finest Reserve ceramic coating on paint, and wheels
CQuartz Dlux Wheel and Trim Coating on trim
CarPro Clarify Glass Cleaner on glass and windows
OBSSSSD Tire Dressing - Matte

Cleaning and Decontamination-Wheels

IronX Snow foam bath/wash / Clay Decon then 2 bucket wash.

This is where it starts to get interesting.
Paint Thickness inside Door Jamb (OEM thickness)

Paint Thickness on the metal body

Paint Thickness on the plastic bumper

Paint Thickness on the front bumper with the front license plate holder removed

Measures both non-magnetic coatings on steel AND non-conductive coatings on aluminum, etc.

PosiTector® 200 with 200 C3 probe measures coatings on plastics, fiberglass, etc.

These PTG`s were a big investment over my previous simple ferrous/non-ferrous metal gauge.
They came in very useful on this vehicle! More and more vehicles are using non-metal body panels.

I like DLUX. It works great on wheels and trim.
Depending on the wheels (and if I have some CQFR left in the bottle)
I’ll use CQFR on the wheels for longevity and ease of cleaning.
