2013 Ford Mustang 5.0. Owner's fiance contacted me a few weeks ago, her sister is married to a good customer of mine. She wanted some information about getting this car done as a Valentines Day gift. I gave her a few options and she decided that using Opti-Coat sounded like the best option since it would make taking care of the car a lot easier. She did have a budget though, wanted to stick with one polishing step if possible. The protection of Opti-Coat seems to be what appealed to her the most. I told her that as long as the condition of the paint allowed, that I'd be within her budget.

Upon first inspection, other than the car being dirty from the recent rains, the paint looked really good. While washing it, that's when I noticed the globs of tar on the front end and hood.

There was also some light marring here and there, the driver's door being the worst. Nothing particularly deep though so I decided to see if HD Polish would be enough to take care of the tar and marring. I've found that some pressure and very slow movement with HD Polish and an Optimum MF polishing pad removes a lot more than you'd think and leaves an LSP ready finish even on soft black paint. Turned out really good for a single step on black. These are after polishing (so pardon the dust) but before washing and Opti-Coat.

ONR wash, Opti-Raser pink to clay (really wasn't picking anything up though)

3D HD Polish using an Optimum MF polishing pad and my Meguiars G110 v2 DA polisher on speeds 5-6, very slow, moderate to high pressure in some areas to remove marring and tar

ONR Wash

Optimum Coating on paint and wheels

Armor All on tires/fenderwells

ONR wash and wax diluted 32:1 to clean glass

Amazing in pretty good shape for a new car? Must not have ponied up for the dealer "prep". Looks great Scott.

came out very nice. I've been impressed with Ford's paint more recently. The flake in some of those finishes is beautiful. Nice job Scott... howcome some of your pics look blurry or is it my screen?

Camera has trouble at times focusing in really bright sun, didn't double check some of the pictures after I took them and since I didn't take that many, I posted them all.

well of course i'm sure it looks good with your skill level, I was just curious. I took a bunch of pics of a car I had done a while back and then realize later on that the damn camera lens had gotten fogged all up from the humidity.

I hear ya. Sucks when something is amiss but it looks fine on the screen.
