Charlie, Actually the National Corvette Museum Delivery (R8C) option is an additional $490 that must be specified when ordering your new corvette. As I recall you can watch your car come down the final portion of the assembly line and be the first to start it. That is very cool right there. :)

Right; I didn't realize the Euro Delivery option was actually a cost *saving* option on BMWs -- very interesting!

That watch your car/be the first to start it deal applies to Z06/ZR1 only, IIRC.... most of the time they give a generic plant tour and have the cars waiting in the museum lobby for delivery. The option I really want to do some time is the "engine build experience" option -- go into the facility in Wixom, MI and hand build your own LS3/LS7/LS9. Pretty steep at $5,000, but worth it for a true car guy.

I will answer Greg's question as you are chilling in the Hotel lobby with Euro beer coldness(Facebook pic I saw) is that a "Happy wife = Happy life".............................. new BMW tightness with a vacation, went to Germany in 99(Frankfurt Auto Show) and driving on the unlimited areas of the Autobahn is a must for any carguy at least once in your life.

Bryan 'Doin it big.......livin the dream" lol.

Well said Bob! Today we drove back from Vienna to Munich. Got onto a few unlimited areas of the autobahn and kicked it up to 120 for a bit. Its 18f out and the car is not full broke in yet at 550 miles. Cruised at 90-100 for 20 mins with another GT...all legal. :)

Wife will be happy when the car is back in the US. :) She did not want to drive here at all, fine by me... :bowl:

Drinking a few more Weisse beers right now. :clap1:

Charlie, That would be great to hang and lend a hand with the engine builders.

Glad to hear you got the new baby sauced up before shipping. Whatever the port and/or dealer do to the car can be fixed. Can't wait to hear what it was like at the delivery place. Safe travels home!

Thanks Playa! I did a QEW wash in the parking garage of the Munich City Hilton. Then had the bellman drive it up and park it out front for the night. Spots in the parking garage where very tight.

Very cool car Bryan, I am stoked for you - Congrats!

Being part of the 99% isn't that bad when you work hard and don't sit around waiting for a handout huh!!!???

Thank you Jason! This makes busting my *** worth it for sure.

Our GT finally arrived a the dealer today. Got the call at 5:30p, arrived at 6:30 to find a nice dirty car. So relieved! Its so dirty I'm sure it did not get washed at the port either. Plan is to rinse, foam, rinse, foam 2BM wash with a new mitt. Clear bra guy should be able to fit me in at the end of the day. Road trip to Savannah on Thursday.

I washed, clayed and gave the hood, front and rear bumpers, front fenders and mirrors a quick polishing with D300/MF pad. I then drove up to Atlanta Protective Films and watched as Derek Johnson installed xpel ultimate on the above areas. Hood got 24" then matched that to the front fenders. See some pics here on my FB page.

Bryan,

You probably dont remember me, havent been on here for a while! Congrats on the new ride, I'm a Client Advisor for BMW now and cannot say enough about the GT. It is all the 7er is for tens of thousands cheaper, and is the most comfortable, and quiet vehicle in our lineup. Not to say that is still not a BMW!

PS-- Those are the colors I'd do as well. Good looks on doing ED, even though it is a pain in the *** for us, LOL, it is the way car guys should do it.

Ben, I do remember you! :) Thank you for your kind words.

We (4 adults) drove down to Savannah in the GT yesterday, about a 4 hour drive. Everyone was very comfortable, according to the computer we averaged 25.4 MPG driving at 85. This includes 50 mins of getting over to I-75 on some "backroads." I'll reset once we get on the interstate today to see how it does just on the highway.

Super Speeder!

Had our GT tinted at Oasis Window Tinting. 45% all around and 80% windshield carbon XP.

I have been using Oasis since 1991 and am always happy with the quality work they do.

Washed and then used Zaino Z8 spray sealant:

That tint looks good - now all you need is shadow-line trim.

Thanks GTP.

Today I put her on jackstands, removed wheels, cleaned with Wolf's Decon Gel (Deironizer) and sealed with Wolf's Rim Shield x2.

That looks great - I am curious about how durable Rim Shield is. I want to try it on my car as wheel wax has proven to be a pain to put on and remove.

I have 2x on my truck wheels too.

I see where some in the UK claim a strong hose rinse or PW will remove 80% of the dust and dirt from the wheels. Time will tell.
