2012 45th Camaro SS

i've had my car for 3 months now and it took someone on a camaro forum claiming i was full of crap in washing with a grout sponge without having swirls for me to finally go out and take some damn pics :tongue2:

it looked good from the factory, so i just did a light correction of optimum spray polish and then finished it up with opti-seal. i wash with a mixture of ONR, OSW, and FK425 with a grout sponge. it seems to work really well for me and is very easy. comments/suggestions welcome. and believe it or not, this is friday and i washed last on sunday, so it has a pretty hefty coat of dust on it. still turned out good in the pictures though nonetheless. just goes to show you what people see on the road every day isn't what us autopians seem to see :D

Definitely looks very slick. Interesting wash mixture there. I would be tempted at some point to try a 50/50 FK118 with ONR as an 'home cooked' mix.

Proper washing technique = no swirls

ONR + OCW works great for me as well. Even though I have Opti-Coat on my car, I like the extra pop I get by adding OCW to ONR.

What kind of ratio do you use for the OCW + ONR mix? I put 1 oz of ONR in 2 gal of water right now. Also to clarify, is OCW Optiumum Car Wash or Optimum Car Wax??

yeah, not sure if the ONR, OCW, and FK does anything together, but they all can go on the car at some point anyway, so i figure i may as well combine them. believe it or not, the FK is known for it's dust-fighting abilities and this mixture does tend to keep my car from dusting badly. so i think they are all working in conjunction in the wash mixture.

for my dilution, i use 2 cap fulls for all 3 in a 2 gallon bucket.

thank you for the compliments.

1 oz of ONR, 1 oz of Optimum Car Wax. Really works well. I mentioned it to Dr. G at Optimum and his comment was "sounds like a good idea, I'll have to try it". :)

I wouldn't expect an ONR/OCW combination product, Dr. G said mixed into 2 gallons of water both products are compatible but mixed together in concentrated form in a gallon jug, maybe not. Plus 95% of the time, people are just washing their cars to get them clean, or between polishing steps to remove dust and don't want a layer of OCW in between. It would be too much of a niche product to be worth the time and money it would take to develop it.

Very nice finish. Love the flake pop.

Very good insight Scott on the ONR/OCW mix. Have you ever added Power Clean to your ONR for a deep cleaning?

I haven't added Power Clean to ONR, but I do spray down wheels with Power Clean, then finish cleaning with ONR.

if it works for you, then keep it up. Don't think 2wice b/c you're not doing what they are telling you to do on Camaro 5.

Exactly. Listening to the typical advice on forums not dedicated to detailing will find you standing in the middle of WalMart holding a bottle of ICE and wondering why you've got a bunch of swirls in your paint. :hairpull

ONR works well on rims?!

Btw the "detail" looks awesome, can't say the same about the car :LOLOL

Uh yeah! Your degreaser then remove with with ONR. Works very well.
