2010 Corvette Correction

Hi,

I am new to the board and I love all the articles I have read. You guys really love your cars, so I know I am in the right place. :)

My question is this, I see some great products I would like to buy, but I have to find an onlie store that carries them all. Carcareonlie is great but they don't seem to carry Klasse products.

So does anyone have some personal recommendations ofr an online store or somewhere offline in Northern Cal, San Jose area.

Thanks in advance.

Try New Dimensions in Santa Clara. I have not bought from them, but I do know they sell the 500ml and 1000ml of AIO and SG.

There are a ton of places that you can order products like Klasse from. Online shopping is just as safe as ordering it over the phone or walking into a store. Either way someone is going to get access to your credit card. Whether you hand it to a guy across the counter or give it to him over the phone or type it into their ordering system, it is the same thing. :) You will always get a better deal online though, because you don't have all that overhead that stores have. That is one of the reasons that Klasse is so hard to find I'll bet. The makers of Klasse don't want the price to get jacked up because of high overhead costs like advertising and retail sales.

The above links are great but there are a ton of other sites too. www.autogeek.net is pretty good. You will find that they all pretty much sell it for the same price. I think most products that are availible in limited amounts to limited resellers (i.e. Klasse, Zaino, Pinnacle, etc.) are pretty much the same price across the board. Go to www.google.com and do a search for Klasse and it will pull up a lot of reseller sites for you. I highly recommed CMA (our benevolent sponsor). Especially since they will probably put Klasse on sale here in a couple weeks. :xyxthumbs

I buy both online and off, wherever I find the best deal.

I remember your list had 3M SMR for $13. You can get it for $10 at a local Pep boys.

Shampoo I buy locally: $10 / gallon of Meguiar's GC wash from Target and $7 for a gallon of Zymol Auto Wash from Costco.

Cotton mitts I buy locally from Kragen's for $4-5. 100% cotton chenille Viking brand mitts only.

Final Inspection and other meguiar's stuff can be found locally from paint and body shop suppliers, look that up in the yellow pages under Automotive.

So I got this job from my good friend Dana, I should have known then that there was a catch and I should turn it down  ...However since I'm either a moron or a glutton for punishment I went ahead and took the job. I got a call from a guy named Mike who may actually be more OCD than me (not a bad thing). He showed up bright and early Sunday morning with what looked like a pristine 2010 red Corvette. At first look we decided that a one step polish would get the car looking its best before Mike had the clear bra installed.

Tools and Products
Pre-foam soak with Autowerkes Exclusive ACP and DG 901
Wash with Werkstat Auto body soap
Clay with Ricardo yellow, CG Luber for clay lube
Dried with Pakshak waffle weave
Glass cleaned with DG Rain Repel
Trim dressed with Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber protectant

Compounded with M105 on wool (spots) and Yellow uber pad both on Dynabrade rotary
Bumpers compounded with M105 on Surbuf pads on Porter Cable DA
Polished with M205 on green uber pad on Dynabrade rotary
NO LSP Due to clear bra being installed in a few day

Poly-carbonate top polished with P21S Paint Cleaner

Wheels cleaned with car was soap
Tires and wheel wells cleaned with Autokwerkes Exclusive APC 3:1
Wheels polished/sealed with Collinite Metal Wax
Tires and wheel wells dressed with DP Tire Gel cut 1:1 and sprayed on

So I started by doing my normal pre-polish cleaning which involves foaming with a strong mix of APC and DG 901. It was painfully obvious after just letting the foam dwell that the vehicle was is much worse shape that I had originally surmised. Apparently the dealership had "detailed" this vehicle by slapping as much glaze and other fillers on it as they could. Well I still decided I was going to give the once step a try to see how it would turn out.

Here is what it looked like all stripped down. Before the glaze was removed it looked like there was just some very fine micro-marring and light water spots.

Here is what it looked like after I hit it will my strongest combo that could still be considered a one step, Orange Uber pad with Menzerna Powerfinish. This left a very shiny finish, but didn't even come close to removing all of the swirls.

Now I started doing some before and after spots, but soon realized I was going to run out of time. So first I will show you some spot before and after.

After this I realized I was going to run out of time. So I just grabbed some good sun shots after I did a section since pretty much the whole car looked the same before. Bear with the dust and crap in the crevices b/c I was snapping pics as I was working just in case I ran out of light. In my after pictures you will seen the totally finished vehicle.

Here is the engine bay. It was clean to begin with (only 400 miles on the vehicle. But I gave it a once over since some dust and polish splatter got on it.

I think thats about it. Thanks for looking!

Looks great! Good correction.

Unusual to see a base model vette, not a Grand Sport or Z06... Shoot, it doesn't even have the NPP exhaust.

Nice Job!!!! Amazing results!!!!
Liked the details on your write up!!!
Can't go wrong with a Red Vette; well done!!

Very nice job! looks better than it would if it just rolled off the showroom floor!

The Vette looks beautiful. That was a great transformation. Those tags are just begging to get pulled over though!
